I’ve lawn trimmed near my garage a million times and today I didn’t shut the door and …well the pic speaks for itself. Passenger rear quarter completely shattered. I’m glad it was me not someone else… Thought I’d post, just looking for a lil sympathy.IMG_1474.jpg

Good advice - I feel your pain and 100% agreed. Been there done that, except it was the mowing team at my office building. Luckily they admitted doing it and picked up the tab. Took out the windshield of the wife’s 22 Limited with a rock that shot out of a 60” zero turn commercial mower.

BTW, that black tape looks “tactical” over that solar octane!!! Nice tape job!!! You never know, someone may walk up to you and say “hey, that’s cool, where’d you get that done?”

Listen we all feel your pain and if it helps you feel better I went to install some lights but wanted that custom look so I cut a wire and totally forgot to disconnect the battery. Long story short, that was a 700 ooooppppsss and two weeks at the Acura Dealership. I feel for you brother. That sucks

Yikes! Unfortunately, my mower can barely stand up to a blade of grass, much less a car window.

    :(:(:( That is very sad.

I too keep my garage open but I'm very odd to use a push mower / manual grass cutting thing. So no chance of rock chips. Also the clippings provide nutrition to the existing grass. I cut every week so its a good exercise for me. I don't have any gym membership. Cutting grass, walking / running with dog is my exercise. :)

    It's a long list...
Ouch! That's a rough day. But look on the bright side, it didn't hit the paint. Glass is less of a pain to replace than having to respray a quarter panel. So, all said and done, it could be worse. Also, great color. That solar octane is one of the best pro colors in my opinion.

I live in fear of my wife mowing the lawn, and play a game where I move my truck around the yard as she mows, to keep it as far away as possible. We have two acres, but nowhere is safe. Neighbors are probably wondering why sometimes I'm parked off-camber on the sidehill next to the road.

I had the same thing happen to my pick up truck campers back window. The weed Walker kicked up a rock and shattered the window. I replaced it with plexiglass, but, it was never the same.

It was a Stihl professional Lawn Trimmer (WeedEater), I have learned to finesse the throttle over the years and not just going full blast to prevent this exact thing from happening but I guess it wasn’t good enough today. I can’t afford the tactical window replacements that so many of you have recommended, but if in the future I did go that route; I wonder how they incorporate the FM antenna?? My quote was $175 for genuine Toyota glass installed but would have to go get it tinted for another $30-$50.

Wow. 175 installed? I never have that luck. Had it happened to me it would be 1,000

Shouldn’t it be already tinted if it’s factory OE glass?

That’s what I thought, I know Safelite had a dropdown menu which showed the glass as tinted either green or grey. I’ll have to double check.

    Sorry this happened to you.

Everything other the windshield and 2 front windows are privacy glass.
If there was a tint, it was added by the dealership on top of it

I did not expect the quote to be that cheap for a replacement window. Especially considering its a heated window.

    Ouch!

Seems like a pretty good excuse to buy one of these:

I don’t think they’re heated. They do have antennas in them though.

Perhaps this is a Canadian model thing. My side hatch windows have heating elements just as the rear does.

Same. Or, at least that's what I thought. Isn't the sharkfin on top the antenna?

The sharkfin is a satellite radio and GPS antennae.

If it looks like this, it's the FM diversity antenna.

I get around that by using a lesser trimmer lol. 40v Black and Decker. I get stings now and then but it doesn’t really throw rocks like your Stihl probably does. Then again, I have a small lot which fits the battery-powered trimmer perfectly.
