RTT Depreciation

Hey guys!
I am looking for a new/used RTT.
I have found one, but they purchased it for $4300, and are asking for $4K…it’s in great shape, but one of the lights needs to be fixed, and i don’t know if it has a warranty…so…how can I get this price knocked down?

I used a camping gear depreciation calculator, says that this tent should be valued around $3K

Any useful tips? Thanks! (I’m new to all of this and am learning the ropes as i go)

 

Offer what you're willing to pay and walk if they don't accept. Only option really. And depending on brand/condition some sell really fast at almost full price used. Other option is pay the extra to get it new with warranty.

 

If you're on FB there are also RTT buy/sell groups you can join where you may find more options available.

 

Also, where are you at? I have been looking at a good deal on one here (near Phoenix AZ) but I don't think I'll have the funds to spend on it before it sells.

I'd pop on FB and search out some RTT buy/sell groups if you can't make that work then. I'd think there'd be something out there somewhere.

 

I have seen a bunch on Instagram groups but the people are only knocking off $100-150 and staring “only used a few times but there is no wait” crap

 

This is going to sound weird but it’s a good idea before buying a used tent to check how it smells. I bought a tent once without doing so which I discovered on first use had been subjected to quite a lot of pot smoke. As if that weren’t bad enough, the previous owner had tried to mask the smell with a liberal application of Febreze, which gives me hives.

I’m surprised to see on here that RTTs don’t depreciate a ton, because of Cap’s point. Add doggy or kid’s potty accidents, or mildew from being put away wet.

 

What the heck is an RTT?

 

My research is only based on the hard shell ones. I can't speak to the others
