    Hi all,

I have a 2007 SR5 4x4 and would like to simply (as much as possible) get a leveling kit to get rid of the factory rake. I'm fine with keeping the 265/65r17 tires and may do some mud but not frequently and value ride quality even more and not creating any ride/suspension issues. Any suggestions of barnds and components for an easy way to level (spacers, shock/strut etc)? Any idea of parts cost and installation cost? Thanks for any suggestions or experience you may have.

Wow, nice pic! Are the third gen Tacoma struts for the front and back...and if so are they taller in front? Also, by takeoff do you mean aftermarket?

    Thanks

Takeoffs just mean someone who swapped their stock OEM struts for aftermarket. You can take the OEM ones they removed and install them on your car, hence "take-offs". Usually you can find them super cheap.

To answer your other questions, the takeoffs would just be for the front and yes they are taller. I'm not 100% sure if you can use the Tacoma rear shocks on a 4runner but i don't think they would provide any lift as its just a shock.

Is it important to get the front springs as well or just the strut?

Tacoma rear shocks will work but require a different lower bushing. Also, IMO they are too soft for the 4Runner and it would be better to just get the proper 4Runner rear shocks.

You need to get the complete shock with springs. You can find them on Craigslist for around $250 usually, with low miles. 2005-2023 Tacoma front shocks/struts/whateveryouwanttocallthem are a direct bolt in swap for the OEM 4Runners. Tacoma fronts should give about 1" to 1.5" lift as compared to the original 4Runner parts. Look for the Bilstein ones over the non-Bilstein components.

Keep in mind that if your truck has XREAS originally, you MUST replace the rear shocks when you remove the front. You do not need to retain the XREAS system. It purely unbolts and is replaceable with normal, non-XREAS parts.

Thanks for your help! It sounds like this is a good alternative way to level the front of my 4runner instead of spacers (and perhaps upgrade what may be older struts on my 4runner). I'll do some searching...

I too have an '07 with 285K miles and I just did some upgrades from stock total cost $7500 includes labor.

I needed new shocks, wheels tires anyways why not do some upgrades vs buying OEM parts.

Any idea how much lift/leveling in the front if I installed 3rd gen Tacoma TRD struts without doing anything in the rear? I have a 2007 SR5 V6 4wd.

    Thanks
