    Hello friends,

Pictured below is the Alfa Romeo Montreal. One of its signature features is the vertical row of rectangular openings down the side. I’m thinking there’s another car of similar vintage that also has rectangular holes down the side. I can picture it in my head, but I can’t remember the name. I’ve googled until I’m blue in the face.

    Can anyone help?

The red head. Awesome yes, but not the car I’m thinking of. The car I’m thinking of has several openings of a rounded rectangle shape in a vertical line along the b-pillar.

The Subaru Brat had something that looked similar but I don’t think they were actual openings.

I’ve never seen that Mazda before. Very cool, but I’m pretty sure what I’m looking for is Italian. I saw it at a car show entitled “The Best of France and Italy.”

These Road Runners (1971) had a stripe package available that sorta fits. Probably not what you're looking for.

Ah the Bricklin. That car was released just before I turned 16, and my fellow motor heads and I were all hot and bothered over it (oooh! Gull wing doors). Later we saw one on the street. What a disappointment. The design was not enough to make up for the tragically poor fit and finish.

But that’s not it. The car I’m looking for has a single row of rectangular holes, like the Alfa Romeo above, except there are fewer holes and they’re all the same size.

The only car I can think of is the Lancia Stratos HF Zero.

Marcello Gandini also designed the Miura which has some much smaller vents on the B-pillar. The Montreal is a front-engine car - unlike the Miura - so I'm not sure what those vents are for.

I was thinking that vents on a B-pillar would indicate rear or mid-engine so I checked out some VWs, the Corvair and Ferrari but didin't find much. You could try searching for mid or rear-engine cars from the 60s or 70s. Let us know how you make out.

That Miura sure is a beautiful car. Thanks for the idea of including rear- and mid-engine in my search query. AuSeeker also alluded to the idea of searching foe photos of the car show. Another good one.
