I'm not a luddite by any stretch of the imagination, but I use a pocket sized spiral notebook to log everything done to my vehicles, each gas fill up, tire purchase and rotation and all maintenance and upgrades. I back this up with a file folder full of maintenance and upgrade receipts and physical copies of OEM brochures and my window sticker from that year/vehicle. I keep my vehicles for decades, so this also helps me in my research.

If the vehicle has an accident, I also record that for full transparency.

This approach hasn't done me wrong yet in 40+ years of practice.

I do the same, but usually right in the maintainance schedule “booklet”. I don’t bother with receipts though, since I track stuff only to remind myself the date/mileage.

I hope to own the 4runner long term, probably longer than toyota’s app will exist lol
