Charlie came in with his Fiance's 2021-4Runner Pro. He had his own 2020 Pro tuned this last January. Charlie was so happy with the tunes improvements to his 2020. Everything from improved throttle response to improved power delivery and much improved shifting as well as MPG improvement. Prior to the tune his best highway MPG's were 16 after the tune he has jumped up to 19MPG's highway. So it was an easy choice getting his Fiance's 4Runner on 9.0. It was good seeing you again Charlie and nice meeting your Fiance! Enjoy the 9.0 Laurie.

What are your thoughts now since you've had the tune for a while?
    Thanks

Sorry for the delay in the review of this. Life seems to get in the way...

I haven't made any runs out of town, so my initial impressions are limited. The 4R runs better, shifts smoother, and overall seems to drive more efficiently. Sort of vague terms, I know. I no longer feel like it needs a throttle controller to get up and go.

I may not be as wowed by the difference as others, as I didn't remove the Sprint Booster until just a few days before the tune, and I don't drive it every day, so while I can tell it's better, I can't pinpoint exactly why. I really need to get it out on the road for an extended trip...

I want to get with Scott (@elnip) next time he's in Albuquerque to see if we can maybe make some tweaks to the throttle to make it a bit more responsive, although it's actually pretty good. We decided on the standard throttle setting, but I'd be interested in the next one up if possible.

I will have to defer to Scott to let you know the specifics of the tune he did. I do know it is the Kdmax Pro 9.0, but no details beyond that. Maybe Scott can pm me the details of the tune.

I pretty much read everything here and I may have missed it, but what does this Tune do to the Warranty, I just got a 2023 Pro on Monday

    Thanks Matt

Any modifications CAN void warranty. But IF it will depends on the dealership. Just keep that in mind.

Yes. ^ If any mod causes a failure it voids the warranty.
That said, I have not informed my dealer of the tune and they are clueless. They could find it by digging deep with a computer but they won’t because they’re lazy. My 2021 Tacoma is still under warranty and I’ve had no issue nor have I heard of the tune being a warranty issue with a dealer.

Bernie and Gary Came in this afternoon. Bernie with his 2017 Tacoma we updated and flashed Pro-9.0 with N-L throttle. Bernie had heard his father in law talking about his 2019 4Runner how the throttle and power he wasn't happy with. Bernie gave his father in law a birthday gift. The Pro-9.0 for his 4Runner now they are both dialed in. Bernie's gear hunting and poor throttle response is a thing of the past. Gary is liking the new throttle response he may even bump it up after he gets some good daily driving miles on it. It was nice meeting both of you and good talking with you guys.
    Happy Birthday Gary!

Hi Dave. I also have a 2019 4R that Scott (@elnip) tuned for me in March. I’m curious as to what you mean by ‘bumping up’ the throttle response…

Brian came in this afternoon with his Army Green 2020 Pro 4Runner. We got him tuned with the Sport throttle and after his test drive he was really happy with the improvements. His wife will have to do some driving to see how well she will like the Sport throttle. Have a great time at Disneyland! It was really nice to meet your family.

The KDMax-Pro-10.0 is available for 4Runners.
@elnip has been running it along with some customers that were tuned recently.
Everyone is happy with the improvements.
We were able to get all the improvements added to the 4Runners, Tundras, and 4 cyl tacomas also.
We had good results on the Dyno from the V6 Tacoma, but have not Dyno'd the 4Runner yet.

If you are interested in the info for the Tacomas, check out out first post on the Tacomaworld thread.

I will let Dave @TWTaco know to update this thread's first post and title. And to add some more info.

IMG_3191.jpg Kevin, one of my T4R customers upgraded to the Pro 10.0. He was already excited about the 9.0 and on his initial test run he had this to say….

“Very 1st test drive. 19.5 miles. A very realistic mix of daily driving for Shelby and Jefferson Counties. 1/3 interstate, 1/3 stop and go on 280, 1/3 county roads, topped Double Oak Mountain 2 times from a dead standstill. That cycle would typically yield 17-17.5 on Pro Tune 9.0 Normal, and 16.0 stock. It was significantly stronger on acceleration, shifting is a lot smoother than 9.0.”

So you can tell a difference between 9.0 and the new 10.0?

Yes, What I am referring here to Gary is 9.0 had only one throttle setting (normal) and 10.0 now has the three settings that only the Tacos had in 9.0 (lite, normal, sport). He wanted something closer to sport so 10.0 was the ticket.
He was one of my customer feedback tunes for 10.0. Me personally I've noticed a considerable difference between the two. My mileage in town has gone up almost 3 mpg alone over 9.0 and I am heavy and not stock.

    Hey Scott.

For the most part, yes. I like how the throttle input is almost instantaneous, vs. the oem throttle, or even the last throttle response on the 9.0 tune. On the other hand, I think at times it might be a touch too sensitive. I wish now that since I made the trip all the way to meet you the other day I had gone ahead and tried the normal throttle, just for a comparison...

I drove my daughter's stock 2010 Lexus RX350 the other day, and the throttle is completely different, but still very nice.

If you ever need to get up this way, I wouldn't mind trying the normal throttle.

I don't know if this has anything to do with 10.0, but I'm still on the same tank of gas as when I came down to meet you in Socorro weekend before last. Currently at 380 miles on the odo, and not on empty yet...
