    Hello all,

I am looking for recommendations on a good roof rack or rooftop carrier that will go with the OEM rails and crossbars or should I just get rid of those and buy a new rack?

I will use it to carry most of my gear along with a Yakima gear locker using the exo system: https://yakima.com/pages/exo

What are the options that you may have considered or I should consider before buying?

    TIA!

I'm keeping my eye on swing away hitch accessory and a cargo tray. My thought process is I can have all my check in size bags on the tray which I can easily take to the hotel room and with swing away accessory I can simple move that away with cargo -> open my hatch -> let my dog out for potty breaks.

This is what I have now on my cart but did not purchase yet.

Haven't thought about a cargo tray yet. But thinking something like this.

    Edit -
The reason I kind of gave up the roof carrier is it would be difficult for me to have big check-in size bags up there in a box.

I’m currently running the Thule Motion XT XL on my Pro rack. It just barely fits and hold a ton of luggage/gear. I’ve looked at the rear carrier options, but wanted something locking and more secure. The down side is reduces MPGs slightly.

I have this system for my cargo on my hitch. https://yakima.com/pages/exo I love it. Check it out. It's so versatile.

I am looking for something for the roof though to store my solar panels and tent and other gear that may not fix in the exo cargo. I want it to fit on top of the factory roof rails and crossbars.

All of these, I think, will affect mileage.
