Yeah, after a certain age you can import whatever. I used to want one of those back in the day when I was into honda's and little vehicles. Pretty cool

Honda Acty. Looks like some body did a poor paint job. Many of these back in Sri Lanka had 660cc 3 cyl engine with manual transmission. Haven driven trucks but have driven cars and vans and one of the cars I had got this 660cc 3cyl engine. It had a rpm meter and it goes all the way to 10,000 rpm (see below pic from the car I had from Youtube). I also had the 1000cc manual version which the rpm meter only had till 8000rpm. Not sure what's the deal.

    upload_2023-5-18_18-15-40.jpg

I really love to have another one here in the USA for fun which I would only use to go to the walmart near my house and would never drive my kiddo to school. If you had a chance to check the door frame you will under stand how risky it would be on USA roads. I wonder if there would be any trouble registering these in the USA and how the insurance would be. Anyways before importing this I would like to import the 1987 Corolla we have in the family if possible.

Once a vehicle is 25 years old, they're importable.

I was in Japan back in 2011 (Narita) a month or so after the earthquake and the Fukushima accident. Anyway, this was my first, and only trip to Japan (so far...) and I was amazed at how much smaller the vehicles and the roads are. The vehicles there at the time look like what is pictured above. I did see a full size Chevy Suburban (had to belong to a military servicemember from the U.S.?) on the streets and it dwarfed everything else!
One thing I will say about the Japanese - their cities are spotless! No dirt, no litter! Our country could learn a lot from the Japanese culture. Pride, honor, and CLEANLINESS!!

Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
Us Americans would have a hard time fitting our massive, pendulous, grapefruits and bratwursts inside those Japanese cars.

Oh, who am I kidding? Everyone on this forum has a tiny dick. Even me!

    :rofl::rofl::rofl:

You are right about that! While I was walking the streets of Narita with my two Chinese wingmen (Expert Avionics Technicians) I was the giraffe in the crowd! I was the tallest person most everywhere!!

Chinese? Not Japanese? You're confusing Hank Hill and his narrow urethra.

No, my wingmen were Chinese. All three of us worked for United Airlines at the time and were on our way to Taipei to fix a Boeing 777. We were stopped at Narita by maintenance control. We spent the next day getting a tour of beautiful Narita.

I have never been to Japan but I think it would be neat to visit.

I saw a video I cannot remember where of vehicles just abandoned from that nuclear reactor site, homes and businesses also obviously.

It was a site to see, dealerships with new cars never used just abandoned to this day. Used car lots with some classic American muscle cars also and limos. Quite the video it was

I wonder if any of our 4Runners end up on roads in Japan. I am guessing they are all required to be exported.

The 4Runner was in Japan as the Hilux Surf through the 4th gen. They had diesel options.

Sorry to take this out of topic a teeny tiny bit. But visiting Japan is a big dream for me especially because of this -
Something I respect and love next to my religion. Love to see some of these people in real live I've only seen in pics and videos. I really wish we have this near where I live now for my kiddo which will be 3rd generation. My dad was the first :)

Sorry for out of topic, just triggered to me when you said about visiting Japan because I love very much.

I don't know all of the specific laws of this state (MT) but, there are quite a few of these P/U's and van's cruising around here.
Among the ones I've seen are, Toyota's, Nissan's, Honda's and Daihatsu's. They are licensed for the public roadways but, not for our freeways. The local LEO's see them like the usual licensed CanAm's and Polaris'. Just use your turn signals or hand signals and don't be stupid with the skinny pedal.
More of these are 4WD and pop up during snow season because they are fitted with articulated snow blades. Business and private Residence's hire these people to clear their parking lots or driveways (if it's not too deep).
YouTuber's, GrindHard Plumbing has a 6x6 that looks pretty fun.

    Edit and off topic.
A lot of people up here are getting really tired of the stupid 'coal rollers' smoking out the intersections. Some LEO's go after them. But what's really funny to see is the ones that get smoked out by their own kind. Fists, middle fingers and lots of cussing ensues. Then they go off to jerk off or whatever....

When I lived in the UK in mid 90s, I had an odd Honda Accord and GMC Jimmy, both left hand drive

Wow a GMC Jimmy in the UK? Did you have it imported or just find one to buy? I would think that would be rare there

I was sent over there to work on a Brit submarine project by IBM, so they gave me an allowance to purchase a vehicle over there. It was less to ship the two over than the allowance for one over there, so I shipped and pocketed the difference. Took them to a GMC and Honda dealer over there to get lights modified/adjusted to meet UK requirements, including a rear fog light. When returning to US the dealers restored lights to US specs, kept the fog lights and IBM paid to ship back. Serviced at dealers while over there.

I lived up North near the Scottish border, roads other than motorways, like our interstates, were narrow with hedgerows or rock walls on either side. I loved to take the old Jimmy down one. Fold in the side mirror on left and driving left I could get inches from the hedge/wall. I’m sure plenty of the poor bastards coming the other way soiled their bloomers seeing that thing coming toward them. It was 4WD so could do off road as well. That allowed the wife and I to follow Hadrian’s wall across most of UK.

There were some over there but right hand drive

That’s a good story about your time in the UK

I had a neighbor in the reserves back after 9/11 and he would go to Germany off and on and had a similar deal where the government paid to ship a car over and back. He took a few 1960s Mustangs over and a Camaro or two and sold these cars for a lot of money. He loaded them up with spare parts drove them from Detroit to Baltimore to get loaded on the ship and fly overseas. Not too shabby.

I remember when I was a kid and my dad was working at Yokosuka Naval Base, there were small 3 wheeled pickups. I think they had handlebars like a bike instead of a steering wheel. This was over 60 years ago. When I was stationed at Kadena AB, Okinawa about 40 years ago I had a Mitsubishi Galant and you had to get annual car inspections. If your car had an oil leak, it failed. Boy, I sure am an old fart. LOL

A repair shop near me has two of these. Sometimes there's a "for sale" sign on them, but I'm not sure he'd actually let go of it.

One of them has a gigantic scissor jack under the bed, so the whole bed can lift up about four feet.
