    Hey there ToyHeadz,

90 2nd gen 4runner, bought a new sunroof switch thinking that was the problem. Turns out it wasn't. Damn thing still won't open.

Motor works, but it leaks and I can't clear the drains without it being open...obviously.

Anyone have a clue as to what may be wrong?

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Blessings,

    Ninety2Door

If you just hear the motor turning, then probably the gear is broken or stripped. But does mean the motor and switch are good.

Where in the hell am I going to get new or quality used gear?!!! FML.

I'd be better off sealing it up and saving up for a panoramic from a late model and cutting the roof out. It would probably cost me just as much as restoring the OEM unit.

Would it be possible to replace the whole thing with an aftermarket one?

I considered that, but I'm a purist. Plus, an aftermarket unit would require a custom headliner. I don't want to incur expenses that will ultimately devalue the rig.
