Recently, my rearview mirror suddenly fell off of my windshield; bracket and all. It appears that a chuck of windshield glass came with it; being stuck to the bracket. No other windshield glass is cracked or anything.

After taking the car to my mechanic, he thinks that this has occurred before, as it looked like the rearview mirror had been glass-glued back on in the past. I have owned the car since 2010, so if this were to be the case, it would have had to have been before I purchased the car.

I am slightly confused as to how to go about this repair. Can anyone confirm or give their feedback? Do I need a new windshield AND a new rear view mirror? What type of repair group could do this repair soup-to-nuts? Do I need a group like Safelite for the new windshield, and then another group to properly mount/wire the new rearview mirror? Thanks in advance!

Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
It lasted at least 13 years with the previous repair. Do it again!

Thanks, should have mentioned, we tried the glass-glue trick again. Lasted 12 hours and then fell off again. Followed all the instructions to clean the surface/etc. well, hold pressure for x amount of time, etc. No luck...
