I set my sensitivity to MED. I can’t tell if it’s working? I think when below 32 mph it shuts off since I have seen a message quickly indicating something is deactivated <32mph. The rear cross traffic alert system works and the blind spot monitor works as they both use the side view mirrors and associated indicators and alarms. Is the collision avoidance designed to apply braking quickly IF a distance threshold is crossed quickly, so you will rarely ever know it works? I assume when pulling into garage, even if close to a wall, the system is off since not going 32 mph?

I'm going to assume Toyota and Lexus's are set up the same.

On the wifes RX350 if the object is in front of you it will NOT press the brakes. Or we haven't gotten to the point for it to trigger the brakes. There is always this one car parked on the side of the road on a bend by our house. And the warning always goes off when we approach it and it has never hit the brakes for us.

In reverse if the object is directly behind you and stationary it will not hit the brakes either. But if something is off to the side I've had it hit the brakes which is quite annoying since it picks up the garage pillar sometimes.

I only have the standard suite of TSS systems, three I read. RCTA, Blind spot monitor, collision avoidance. There is an optional package that has more features that includes rear (backup collision avoidance) protection. I’m assuming it’s a good thing the forward collision avoidance doesn’t show itself much? Could result in getting rear ended

Mine has never actually applied the brakes but I have gotten the warning where the info display between the gauges turns completely red and flashes the word BRAKE!

Captain, were you about to have a collision? Or was the sensitivity too high and you subsequently turned it down?

HotelMedicis, thanks for posting the page in manual. I’m a new owner and just getting acclimated to all these features. What a complex system! It may save a wreck, or injury or death one day. I’m glad it’s there. Part of me doesn’t want ALL the gadgets, because their malfunction can be a pain. But the TSS standard package seems like a good assembly. I hope I never need it but nice to know it can possibly avoid a catastrophe.
