2019 SR5 Tire Replacement

What you'll find with Defender's and Michelin tires in general is they don't have balancing problems like some other brands and usually don't need many wheel weights to true them up, never had a balance problem with Michelins installed on trucks at Costco, local Costco here fills tires with nitrogen when installing. One thing with Costco tires though is to check the DOT year code of what they are selling to make sure you are getting a matched set of new tires and not some that have been sitting in a warehouse for a couple years although that advice is true at any tire shop. Defenders start paying for themselves first day from improved fuel economy, few repairs and no balancing issues, need to rotate them 2 - 3 times a year though to optimize.

 

They are fantastic tires, cant go wrong with them. I had them on my pilot and Acrua MDX. SUPERB

 

You will not regret these. I’ve run them for years on all my vehicles.

 

I have to throw in a plug for General Grabber HTS60 as they were on my 4R when I purchased it. They currently have 40k miles on them, all highway. They are wearing great and have excellent wet and dry traction. I plan to replace with Defenders or maybe AT/2 based on members reviews as soon as these wear out but it may be a while since they still have plenty of tread on them. Pretty impressive tire I must admit and priced well.

 

My Dunlops were gone after ~2 weeks and 1300 miles for the same reason.

The G015's were honestly some of the best tires I've ever had. They're top of the list for my "winter" tires if I decide to keep running 2 sets. Very good in snow!

 

my 2019 is at 73k on the original tires... the often hated Dunlop grantreks. they did great for me, only started riding noticably rough the last 3 months or so and are just about at the wear bars. Got some Michelin Defenders on order, as they've always done great on my other SUVs.

 

I’ve run Defenders for years but am tempted to try the Geolandar AT. The one thing that spooks me is reports of Geolandars throwing lots of pebbles that get stuck in the tread. I’ve got some paint chips on the front of my rear wheel wells while running Defenders. If the Geolandars throw more stones than the Defenders, I’d be disappointed.

 

I was going to recommend the best AT tire I've ran in 40 years of off-roading; the Goodyear Wrangler Ultra Terrain AT, but seems nobody in this thread needs a tire capable of moderate to serious off-roading capabilities.

 

OP said his use was mostly on road with 1% offroad excursions. Recommendations were based on that.

Update:
Total out the door cost was $980, mounted and balanced. As mentioned, they do fill. with nitrogen and you get "lifetime" free balancing and rotations. The price included a rebate from Michelin and Costco gives another $50 off.

 

Good results, and price. The reason I would consider going to Discount over Costco in my case is, I believe DT would give me $ trade for my Falkens. I’ll run by there this week to see about that and maybe a price match to Costco.
