    Hello ToyHeadz,

I'll make this quick. My rear window doesn't seem to want to go up completely - stops at about 80% - then I have to give it a literal hand in order for it to close all the way.

Anyone else encounter this problem and discovered a solution (I'm hoping to God it's not the motor ).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Best,

    Try lubing the tracks.

Then more than likely your relay is going out. You can always test the motor and see if it goes up all the way.

Try cleaning and re-lubricating the lift mechanism.

You can do this with the tailgate open or closed. I have a drawer platform in mine so I access it with the tailgate open.

Remove the carpet trim panel and metal panel.

If the tailgate is open, use a small screw driver and rotate both latches to the fully closed position. You can now use the key to raise the window just enough to expose the mechanism.

If the tailgate is closed, raise the window all the way up.

You now can clean and re-lube the rub points, pivot points and gears. You can also access the the lower window tracks, clean and re-lube with silicone spray.

Thanks a bunch, I found a really good write up on Yota Tech on how to upgrade to a more powerful relay for cheap.

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
Cut the plastic top off the relay and burnish the contacts with a strip of sandpaper or do what my son did, unsolder the mostly unused washer relay and swap it to the window.
Also take a an old gift card or something thin and run it along the weather strip between the window to scrape off any accumulated grit/dirt off the strip to lessen the friction.

I came here for almost this exact question. Mine doesn’t want to go down all the way, or I push the button and it barely moves when down, or sometimes goes down when I’m trying to get it to go back up?! Anyway I guess I’ll try to take the cover off and look at it, clean it. But mine seems like it could be the motor? I’d have no idea how to replace that or a relay either.

oops: just realized I’m in the 2nd Gen forum, I have a 5th Gen. Wondering if it’s the same?

Update: Tested the motor; good. Applied graphite based lubricant to all the gears and armatures, and used Honda Silicone spray lubricant in the track (turns out Hondas have a similar problem with the tracks being tight).

Anyways, it goes up now, still slower than a stubborn donkey, but it goes up.

    Hope this helps someone.

    Try greasing the mechanism.
