I've considered this, but based on the squalor they live in, those would be some dirty ass breasts haha

As bad a rap as HOA's get, this is exactly why I will never be without one. (At least until I can afford enough acres to create a "fuck you" boundary between myself and whoever the neighbors are)

Man, how I wish this were true. Been in an HOA 4yrs now. Three neighbors within a four house radius run construction/lawn businesses out of their homes (with employee vehicles daily filling the streets). I have the same neighbor as y’all with 2 identical broke-down silver mustangs in the street (with accompanying oil patches). However, they did fine me for parking the new 4Runner in the street once (for 2hrs) while doing an oil change on the Lexus, so there’s that.

Twice we’ve called the HOA for help. Once because a neighbor walks his dogs off leash and they’ve twice tried to attack our dog. Once because someone put a random porta-potty in front of our house. Both times the HOA told us that if we wanted to get resolution, we’d need to come to the HOA meetings and make an “impassioned plea” to our neighbors. Needless to say, he still walks his dogs off leash (we try to plan our walks after 10pm to avoid him), and of course, there’s the John…

Maybe HOAs are hit or miss, but we’ve determined we’ll never live in one again. It’s worth about $50k-$75k to never have to deal with their bs.

I will say when I lived in an HOA I was kinda getting fucked with, until I started going to meetings. A few meetings in I knew the whole board, where they lived, and my they knew my concerns. It ended up actually being a positive experience (surprisingly). I also told them the lady that comes around to assess discrepancies needs to quit cussing on my property (I have cameras) and sent them the videos of her on her phone. I never got another fine haha

It’s one thing to deal with one idiot neighbour, it’s another thing to be sandwiched between two idiots and have 2 others on the street. From people parking on street, blocking part of our driveway, to have our cars hit by fireworks, to have neighbours kids … the weekend they moved in, hit our car 3 times with a basketball, and another neighbour’s dog pissing on our porch as it’s left to run off leash. And 3 homes f-ing dog barking, duration and frequency. Christ, we have a 18 month old doberman, and she’s barely barked 5 times outside since we’ve had her, we get her to shut up or call her in within 30s. With it all of this I do want to move, but my wife doesn’t. So now I have to step up and be a bigger prick than them all of them. If I’m going to be miserable, then so are they.

So, it sounds like the HOA's are kinda cliquey, if you need to be one of the cool kids to get your concerns addressed. I think I'll stick with my initial instinct of not ever living in a subdivision. :D

Well surprising update, the city came and cited my neighbors broken down car in front of my house. They gave him a $75 ticket for having a non running vehicle on the street.

Here's the kicker. They had a crew of city employees lay down absorbent and cleaned up all the leaking oil. The employees then cleaned up all the absorbent and disposed of it... and charged my neighbor haha. No idea of dollar amount but I can't imagine an hour of labor for three city employees and hazmat removal is cheap.

    Karma is a bitch

I live in a part of the city with a lot of 1 acre lots, and the couple behind and to the side of us think they are God's gift to the equestrian world with their 2 horses. The problem is, they don't clean up after their two sh#t factories, they just drag a section of chain link fence around behind a tractor to break up the piles of horse manure and mix it back in with the dirt. Every time the wind blows, our front walk, porch, driveway, and general front of the house gets covered with this ground up crap. We had them over years ago to see if they would consider cleaning up the manure (like the previous owners did) and were basically told we're literally SOL - it's our fault for buying property next to land where horses can be raised. If we ever move away, we're going to collect it for six months, and the night before we leave, take the several garbage bags full of horse sh#t and dump it on their cars, front porch, and driveway, since they're so fond of being around it.

Not to mention every time it rains it reeks of wet horse poop and urine for a block around this property.

found a deal on 5 acres outside of the 'city'. House isn't a mansion (though not a shack, either) but it's so nice to not have people arms length away.
