@JETSPD1477 They sure are! We are trying to visit it all the National Parks. I have visited Yosemite, Sequoia, Joshua Tree, Zion, Olympic, Yellowstone, and Grand Canyon. We will be visiting Badlands this summer, so more fun miles to come ;)

    Thanks for asking!

Somebody pulled out in front my nephew, surprisingly everybody walked away with minor injuries.

He might have some stuff to sell in a few days

How do you like the Gobi? It seems to be a polarizing brand, but I love the basket/safari look and I don't have a RTT...thinking about pulling the trigger on one soon.

Yes those Chinese knock offs did that intentionally. I think so it could avoid lawsuits from Rago since these are very similar to theirs. And I agree about the OCD kicking in @Branden967. Mine did too. But as the old saying goes: You get what you pay for. I paid for cheaper Chinese knockoffs. And this is what happened.

I wanted a spare tire to match my 285 BFG’s so I bought a TRD wheel and a single BFG 285x70R17 and TPMS. I thought I was going to need to shop for a hitch mount spare tire carrier and was set on getting one from Westcott Designs until I searched on YouTube for anyone mounting a 285 in the original spare tire space underneath their 5th gen T4R. It turns out there were several that successfully did it. So, after I got my spare mounted and balanced I swapped out my original spare and it fits. Barely. I just want to keep the tailgate obstruction free and I didn’t want to relocate the backup camera and license. IMG_5592.jpg Here’s some pics.

I was curious if a 285/70R17 would fit because I didn't want to spend the bucks right now for a swing out (even if they look badass).

Thanks for the pictures of proof!

Welp FINALLY got around to blacking out my rear valence. I did my front quite awhile ago with vinyl wrap. I decided I liked it so much that for the rear I just painted it with SEM plastic trim paint.
Removing the rear bumper is actually a breeze so anyone intimidated by it don’t be. A couple cautions I have that Ive not seen before. 1) there are rubber bumpers in back side of tabs along too edge. Most stick but two fell off and if I wasn’t paying attention could have missed it. 2) the very center of bumper at the hatch latch strike there is a 1ish inch wide strip of plastic that cracked right in half on me and I was handling this bumper with kid gloves and ultra cautious on support and the whole nine yards.
This entire process took me only 2-1/2 hours from start to finished installation. The paint obviously isn’t fully cured hard yet but used some light heat to help it along enough I could handle it without issue.

here’s a few pics of the process and my repair of the crack…

Lots of help with this on TW. Just watch it to make sure the exhaust isn't melting the tire! Nice!!

    I LOVE the SEM paint.
I did my front grille cross bar in it and has been flawless in all sorts of nasty stuff.

the vinyl has done very very well up front. But it at some point it’ll start to peel bi do see some puckers at the edge ends from when I stretched it.

Vinyl is nice cause it’s temporary.
Paint is nice cause it’s application is so so so much easier than vinyl…

SEM paints very well super even and self leveling. I mean you can’t paint like an idiot but if you do light layers to build up like you should with any paint it’s swell…

Honestly, It's well made and great for roadtrips/ camping. That, and I love how the truck looks with it on. The downside is it's weight; my MPG is even worse with it on. So when I am not using it, I remove it. I have a neighbor with a 5th gen and Prinsu RR. He get's about 15.5 MPG compared to my 13.0 MPG.

Maybe not what I did today. But what's came in through Amazon and UPS here lately.

    1. Got my TRD skid plate in from BAM. Gonna have to install next week when I have some off time.
    2. FINALLY found some red buttons for my MESO remote. Found them on the Caliraisedoffroad websit
    https://caliraisedoffroad.com/products/red-keys-for-minimalist-fobs-3gtfb-red

Did finally upgrade my door lights to red (that's dirt and dust under the door. Not rust.).

    IMG_20230420_144323_01.jpg

Also added this rear mat from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BFRKM5CS?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

    20230419_141716.jpg

I bought the covers for the rear seats about a month or so ago. All I REALLY wanted was the small strip where the rings are, but you couldn't just buy that. Oh well. Two rubber matters are better than one I suppose.

If you wanna see it work, go drive a bunch of high way. Get the engine hot for extended periods of time and you'll collect a good bit. Shorter trips won't collect as much since you're not up to temp for very long.

It's not THAT heavy. I lifted mine onto the roof alone and I'm not a big guy.

I lost 1 mpg with it on (Gobi No Rise).

The full-size version is around 70lbs, which is actually over half of the 4Runner’s moving capacity of 120lbs (per Toyota, but aftermarket companies love to inflate this value so their rack doesn’t seem to take up so much of the limit).

It does suck to see a 4Runner go down like that. But it did it’s job by keeping everybody inside safe.

Got my red buttons put in. These things are hard to find. Luckily, Cali Raised Off Road had them. Cost more to ship them than I paid for them, but it's done. 20230422_091458.jpg

Installed my Naviks enTune 3 motion lockout bypass. I was a bit concerned about taking the dash apart and pulling the head unit but I was shocked how easy it actually was. I'm glad I'll now have full control of all factory functions while in motion. Worth the hundr d seventy five bucks IMHO.
