    Hi 4Runners.com folks!

I'm back after trading in my 2016 TE last November for a 2023 Tundra. I briefly used the Tundra for towing our 18ft double 3500 lb axle trailer.

Initially, I thought I was just going to add the 2023 4R ORP to the fleet. But they took in the Tundra at close to MSRP so I thought I'd let it go because of build quality issues. I'll probably rent a truck for those weekends that I need to tow the trailer.

I'm super-stoked to be back here.

    Welcome back!

What issues did you have with the Tundra? I've heard of a few things, but just curious to hear from someone who actually owned one.

    Thank you.

The tundra has a great engine-transmission combo. Very smooth and powerful. I missed it right away on our drive home. Creature comfort is great. I really liked the 14-inch screen and how the dash is setup. I also loved the panoramic sunroof.

On the negative side, the build quality of the 4R is sooo much better. Here are some negatives for me on the Tundra:
    1. Creaking door interior
    2. Buzz in the front door speakers
    3. Excessive wind noise on the driver side
    4. The carpet in the front wheel wells are flimsy and difficult to clean
    5. passenger window seals have a gap where water gets in
    6. body panels were not perfectly aligned
    7. the rear silver bumper cover is flimsy. It's made from very thin metal that got scratched and dented by something (probably a grocery cart)
    8. The suspension squeaks. I can replicate it by bouncing the tailgate.
    9. Even after 3900 miles, I'm still at 15mpg, and I drive mostly suburban roads. Coming home today, I right away got 20mpg on the 4R driving an average of 55mph.
    10. There is tsb on the tri-fold tonneau cover. There is risk of it flying off. There is currently no fix so dealerships are taking them off.

Wow! That's a helluva list! Very disappointing, I'll bet! I'm glad you were able to get back into a 4runner without losing your ass!

Yeah it's been a great used car seller's market to this point. But according to the guys at the dealership, they have a bunch of incoming vehicles and expect supply to keep getting better, which will negatively affect used car pricing soon.

Welcome back from Wisconsin! Sad about the Tundra, actually considered getting one when they were more sorted out, now your list.... the 4Runner is just fine!

BTW, I'm really happy that I found a dealership that got me an ORP in 3 weeks and was willing to take the port-installed options off the build sheet. It greatly reduced the price. Ended up being $4400- less

Yeah, it was disappointing more so because I came from a 4R. The tundra has a lot going for it but the 4R is like a brick and I like it for its pros and cons.

Thanks. This reminded me I'm out of Knob Creek. Got to make Samsclub run.
