My 2019 Limited has the auto dim rear view mirror. It doesnt work. But, I have rear tinted window of unknown design. Its dark. No paperwork to say what was put in prior to buying.
Will the rear tint cause the rear view mirror to no dim? Or is this mirror have other issues.
It simply doesnt work, dim with bright lights on behind me.

Yah any extra tinting will throw off the factory trigger points understandably. When it's dark outside try shining a bright light into the sensor on the mirror glass and see if it darkens. If not check for any related fault codes.

I've noticed that vehicles with LEDs won't trigger the mirror's sensor but halogen lights do and the mirror dims. At least that's what I noticed when I was paying attention to this. Luckly I don't drive much at night, when I do I try not to pay too much attention to this.

That kind of makes sense... Must be a specific lumens range that affects it. I have a few cars I may try this at home...

I recently bought a 2013 limited the rear mirror seemed like it didn't work for auto dim. I tested the mirror and it works properly. Hmmm. More studying I noticed that the mirror ball mounts were all the way down to lower perhaps for shorter drivers.
Once I moved both ball mounts to the highest possible position and still adjust the mirror, whoosh. Like magic. Nice accessory.

I have a garmin dashcam and the little red light that turns on when the camera is on interfered with the mirror sensor. After covering this light with black electrical tape, my mirror auto dimming feature worked liked a charm.

Why do y'all need the mirror to dim if you have tinted rear windows?

You understand that tint doesnt stop glare from LED etc type headlights. The dim function, well, dims it. And all tint is not created equal.
Thats my experience with the tint I have, which is stupid dark due to it being installed in Alabama years ago

^The factory tint dims the glare sufficiently for me :notsure: and yes a good portion of cars on the road have LED headlights. In my Tacoma, I turn off the autodimming function on the rear view mirror as part of the startup routine. I thought about just unplugging the mirror wire connector, but the I'd lose the compass readout.

The side view mirror glare and oncoming traffic glare are more problematic.
