Pre road trip maintenance recommendations

First post here!

Planning on moving from the Seattle area to Anchorage and trying to compile a list of maintenance I should do prior to making the drive. 99 4runner with roughly 240k miles. Recently replaced valve cover gasket, plenum gasket, spark plug tube seals, cleaned MAF, and other small things. Timing belt and water pump replaced at 180k.

Planning on making the drive in around 4 days. The last thing I want is to end up stranded in Canada so anything you guys would recommend before making the drive would be much appreciated.

Battery in good condition?

 

battery is about a year old!

 

Tires and brake pads, and differential and transmission fluid, are what come to mind.

 

Should be good then.

Check torque on lug nuts. Tires are in good shape, and properly inflated?

I'm just going to keep throwing out anything I can think of.

I usually just check everything. Dont get crazy going changing a bunch of unnecessary stuff and potentially making an error or getting a bad part and opening up a can of worms while on your trip. If I will be going over my oil change interval while on the trip I will change the engine oil then double check levels right before leaving but, thats about it other than checking tire pressure and maybe topping off the washer fluid. If it ain’t broke dont fix it.

 

I would make sure the 4 wheel drive system works before your go. My wife used to live in Tok & she certainly needed 4 wheel drive moving back into the lower 48. Enjoy your time & please post hunting, fishing pics!!!!

4WD works great! I definitely will post hunting and fishing pics, some of the best there is up there. I’ll try my best not to speed in the great white north. I hear the Mounties can be pretty strict

 

definitely a good philosophy to have. I’ll probably end up changing the more essential fluids/ the stuff that hasn’t been done in a while.
