Hello guys, I'm recently into 4Runner market and still searching for a clean TRD offroad or a TRD pro. Is the rust on this TRD pro a problem or not, and how much would it cost to clean these rust out? WechatIMG215.jpg WechatIMG214.jpg WechatIMG213.jpg

This is a 2018 4Runner TRD pro, would I be better off with a TRD off-road or a TRD pro?

The rust doesn’t look horrible, but it’s there. In a dry, no salt climate I’m sure it would last forever as-is.

In the saltbelt, I might still buy it if the price is right, and do the usual woolwax or other oily coating as soon as possible if you intend to keep it forever, or if you expect to get market resale value when you sell it.

If this costs almost as much as new, I would say just look for a new one.

The Off-road trim represents a better value for your dollar. It has all the best mechanical features the 4runner offers.

Dealer listed for $35,899 with 85700 miles on the clock. The original MSRP with delivery was $43,919. Do you think this is a fair deal?

While it's a Pro, that seems kind of high. I purchased my 2019 in February, a Limited with 50,000 miles, for 28. I know the Limited is in excellent condition, as I had been the leasing party. And as I live in the desert, got a pretty clean chassis. YMMV. Good luck!

Go compare to a new and see what the price difference is. I would struggle paying 36 grand for a vehicle with 86K. But the market is not what it once was.

I would pass and just pay a few thousand more for a new 2023. These used Pro prices are out of control.

It seems like that Pro has enjoyed driving through a number of water crossings.

Based on an online car search, a 2018-2020 Pro in good condition would be priced from $45K. So $36K is not bad. I actually traded in my 2016 TE with 70K miles for ~$30K (and bought the Tundra at MSRP).

But I would pass on that particular Pro for 3 reasons: 1) high miles; 2) rust; 3) fear of the unknown.
