I've included a picture of our big boy Grizz (The reddish or 'sedge' Chessie) outside of crate so you can get a sense of size. He's 26" tall at the withers and 93lbs. He's the bigger of the two. They both fit comfortably and are able to sit, lie straight and curl up nicely. I used to just let them be free in the trunk but I always kinda knew that was unsafe. Now, with the construction of these crates and that they are tied down solidly back there I feel much better.

Because the crates come pretty close to the edge of the trunk, a dog must be able to jump up directly into crate. Both mine are under 4 years and they are field dogs so no worries. If it is an older dog you might want to think about a ramp.

Very much appreciated. My GSD is turning 3 so jumping is not a concern for the time being. Looks like a large may work after all. I suppose taking him to Cabela's is in order.

Thanks for all these pics, this is very helpful. Our 2 ~80lbs GSDs currently have the cargo area to themselves but I know that is not particularly safe. One of them would struggle going "straight in" to the kennel so she would have to be lifted into it (I lift her into and out of back anyway). You actually gain cargo room back I think once you put these in because you can pack things around the crates. Thanks again

It’s true. All of a sudden I can pack stuff on side of and on top of crates and use the trunk while the dogs are in there. I don’t intend to keep moving the crates out and in so when traveling without the dogs I just load backpacks, gear, etc. inside the crates (quick vacuum before I do that of course, especially during shedding season!).

80lb GSD fits great in the large Ruff Land (Non SUV version). Ample room left in the hatch. I got the tie down kit and secured it to 3 of the 4 floor anchor points with Nite Ize adjustable bungees. Had to use a small hole saw on the Husky Liner to reveal them. I cut a piece of thin yoga mat for under the kennel just to prevent and sliding.

Recently got this intermediate SUV for my Aussie cattle dog. She weighs 50#. I love how the SUV style with its sloped back allows the kennel to be pushed back further without hitting the top of the back seats.

Hi I have a question on this. I have a SR5 with the sliding rack, would you think the Large Ruffland SUV kennel would hit your window if a couple of inches (sliding rack) higher? Need a kennel for my bully and 32 inch kennels seems a bit small for him. He’s 65lbs.

Update, the large SUV kennel fits well in a SR5 with a sliding cargo rack. IMG_0790.jpg
