I have had it for a month so far and love it. It is a Canadian version so maybe somewhat different with auto on lights, fancy block heater, etc. Dash badge only says 40th Anniversary and not 1 of 4040. I heard only 400 for sale in Canada but not sure if that is part of the 4040 or in addition to. My old VW is also cool.

    Welcome..!!
You got automatic headlights & engine block heater? That is soo cool..!! Congratz..!! Love the look of that 40th anv 4R. I bet you will be upgrading factory tires to dedicated winter tires? Or switching to All season / All terrain tires with 3PMSF rating is enough to survive Canadian winters?

I will probably run these in summer and look to get a second set of rims/tires just for ice/snow. I need them where I live in the winter. I will probably change out the HT Duellers with something but not a priority right now. Day time running lights are law in Canada for probably 20 years now so anything sold has to have it. Block heater is also necessary but not law.

I'm actually curious about the numbers sold in Canada as well. A friend sent me a pic of a white one they saw in Alberta, and I saw another black one for sale in Calgary.

Here's mine when it got out of the undercoating shop (before the Elka's were installed)Screenshot_2023-03-11_172040.jpg :

How do you like the Elka's? I have heard great things about them. Bonus points for them being Canadian.

I'll preface this by mentioning that I am the type of person that will definitely tell everybody who will listen that I spent good money on bad kit. I have also put different suspension (sometimes multiple different suspension set up) on XTerra's, Ram 3500's, Tacoma's, and a bunch of other vehicles, so have a good understanding of what I don't like, and what has failed fast.

I was a little concerned dropping that amount of money on something with so little word of mouth, but I wanted something to handle frost heaved highways, mountain twisties, and rough forest service roads while reducing the 4Runner nose dive when breaking; I would definitely recommend the Elka 2.0's for this (I have 650# coils). I was legitimately surprised at how good they are.

I was expecting to be driving a hay cart after installing them, but they are just as comfortable on road and highway as the stock, but perform much better on washboard and handle harsh frost heaves confidently.

Now I'm just curious to see how long they last before any issues.

Toyota Canada or your dealer should know if the 400 in Canada are part of the 4040 or are an additional count to the 4040. I haven’t asked but it is on my list. If they are 4040+400 then the 1 of 4040 badge in US is technically not accurate. I had grand plans for some accessories and changes but then broke my ankle and now I can’t even drive it for at least another month.:annoyed:

That's brutal...have you tried driving with the other foot? Hahaha

I never even thought to see if mine has a number on the badge.

My dash badge is generic and says nothing about 1 of 4040. I did send a text to my sales guy at the Dealer and will report if he finds out anything. Even though it is my left foot that is injured, I was instructed that I need to inform my insurance before driving or I might not be covered. The other issue is I can't really do much if I reach a destination, not interested in crutching around anywhere on snow and ice. I can probably just drive around but that seems a bit pointless so I will await proper spring temps and more melting first.

Welcome to the Forum. Nice looking 40th rig. Also, nice looking VW Camper Bus. I'm old enough to remember those. I hear VW is re-introducing the Bus again.

Really, shouldn't we actually be well into spring by now. Feels like its dragging on longer than necessary.

    Heal well, and heal fast!

Just found a news release on the Toyota Canada web site (completely by accident); looks like they did make 400 for the Canadian market...

Black is the move if getting an anniversary edition. I saw a white one at the dealer the other day and the white with the stripes did not do it for me. I think they also offer it Barcelona Red, but I have yet to see one. Considering the frankly stunning amount of SR5’s and ORP’s used by the police around here, wouldn’t be totally shocked to see one kitted out with a light bar…

To be honest, my black one didn't even do it for me until I saw it in person...I was even asking the dealership if the stripes could get peeled off with a heat gun when I was driving to pick her up. I really started digging it as soon as I saw it though, and now I wouldn't go back.

I saw a red 40th for sale in Kelowna, but not in person...not sure I would have done that colour. I have yet to see any other 40th in person, now that I think about it.

I like your style! And guessing taking off the stickers will always remain an option. Especially, North of the 49th as the sun probably won’t be as harsh as say here in Hawaii.

That said, I really do think your pics look good. The white one I saw with bronze TRD’s just was not for me.

I agree on the black. White is not terrible but the red is. I like Barcelona Red, which was the colour on my Tacoma. It does not jive well with the stripes if you ask me. Here is one close to me.

I just thought of what I would have definitely bought, if it was even a thing they made...Same black, same stripes, same everything as my 4Runner, but with 2 doors and removable top like my first 4runner! That would have been a true anniversary edition! I should see I can photoshop something up just to see what it would look like.

I actually went to Sublime Surfacing (sublimesurfacing.com) in Edmonton. I do remember finding a company locally (in Calgary) that does similar work, but after talking to both places I decided to have Ted do it, and I don't regret the slight inconvenience at all. They are very passionate about their work, very thorough, and pricing is very fair for the amount of work that goes into it. I know that's a lot of very's, but you'll see what I mean if you use them.

Due to limited issue, those vehicles will have higher resale price, if not mutilated and not rusted.
Rustproof it with Fluid Film or Wool Wax first of all. Do not use paint, rubber or hard coating.
Black color required extra care. cover it, at list hood and roof, with Paint Protection Film.
Do not use car wash, as small dirt imbedded into car wash machines brushes and such, make paint "matte" finish and
you will spend more more to pay for detailing, that usually next to car wash business.
