Friends, what rear lower shock guards are you running for your Kings or Elka shocks? I found that Rago Fabrications and Icon don't fit. Emailed RCI Offroad to see if theirs fit. BFP is sold out.

    So....open to any wisdom here.
    Grateful for you.

Those fitting on Kings or Elkas? I only ask because I wrote to Rago and they said they would not fit. But the base of the shocks where the bolt goes through are all a standard size (to fit the vehicle). So I wasn't sure. Grateful for your insight.

Like everything else they “make”, Rago just ripped off BPF and jacked the price up.

The unpopular truth, that Filthy Motorsports swears by, is just cutting a rentable of rubber and attaching it to the shock body zip ties and hose clamps.

Seriously, they are one if not the biggest seller of King in the US and they are known for their customization and they will tell you a piece of rubber acting like a mud flap protection the front of the shock rods outperforms every other option for protection in the market, and at very little cost.

Hit them up and they would probably sell you a couple precut pieces for cheap.

Well said. Truth be told I'm going to go with Rago. I think the base on all shocks to fit a vehicle is stanardized sizing. The rubber boot is probably what Rago thinks 'won't fit'. It will be fine. Appreciate y'all's insight.

There’s more to it than that. The bolt hole is a standard size size by the rod bushing to match the vehicles rear axle, but the rod ends themselves are not a standard size, some are tall and skinny (look at pictures of Elka) and some are bulbous and beefy (look at pictures of King). If they say the they don’t fit king it’s because either the rod end is large enough that it interferes and won’t allow the the guard to set into position in order to be bolted on, or the shield shape will interfere with the shock body on full compression and cause significant damage.

BPF at least offers one that are proven compatible with King.

Ahhh. I hadn't thought about full compression and what that might do to the shock body. I'll give BPF a call and inquire. Thank you for helping me better understand this.

That's a shock mount skid. What we're talking about is a shock guard that has a metal "shin guard" so to speak that comes up the front and protects the exposed shaft of the shock rock from getting hit with rocks and debris flung up from the tires. 1 little bur from a nick can tear up a shock seal in no time.

At full compression, would your king shock come into contact with the rago bracket?

Good stuff. Please let me know. It would devastate a very expensive shock to strike that bracket at full droop.

I took my Runner to the shop i use, and they checked it out to see if it would hit the shock body. They said unless i hit something hard enough to bend the guard i have plenty of clearance

Good deal. Thank you for the insight! I'll go with the Ragos for the Elkas. Rago told me they wouldn't fit but I don't see why not.
