Can you tell an ORP from Off Road looking at exterior?

I really don’t care but I’m curious. My sales Mgr said the ORP has the silver bumpers front and rear and the Off Road is body colored. In looking at the brochure they both appear to have silver bumpers front and rear. He may be thinking of older models? Are there any differences in the exterior of ORP vs OR? The badging for both says TRD Off Road. I have not seen a new Off Road as it looks like 95% coming in are ORPs. After looking more closely at the brochure, if it has a Moonroof, it is an ORP. Also, the ORP has turn signals on the side view mirrors. But if no moonroof and not turning I don’t think they look any different. Thanks

I think I’ve heard people say the ORPs have the signals added into the side mirrors? I might only be half right tho.

the trail editions apparently had the body colored parts he mentioned

if we’re talking exterior only… all off road trims will have silver bumper valances. not all ORPs have a moonroof so the tell tale sign is the turn signal mirrors.

All off roads premium and non premium have the silver valance (unless you’re talking about a venture or pro) biggest give away is premium has softtext non premium has Cloth seats and 99 percent of time premium has moon roof non premium does not

Nswd, I really like the contrast of the body color with the bumpers. That color combination made me switch from Silver Metallic to Lunar Rock. Mine is due here April 7.

Yeah, as mentioned, mirror signals are the only exterior visual clue.

    Softex interior.

    I doubt "99%" of ORPs have a moonroof.... Mine doesn't, quite a few that I've seen don't.

I’ve never seen a premium without one must be a regional thing then

Also on my base OR.... was surprised it had leather on the doors when I picked it up. With the seats being cloth I guess I was expecting something cheaper on the doors.... something like the material the dash is made of.

Don't think it's a regional thing. @MeefZah is in Ohio and I'm in Texas. No sunroof on my 21 ORP. Exactly how I wanted it but I didnt order it. I just got lucky with it inbound and my dealer traded it with another dealer in Texas while it was still on the boat. I'm guessing the most Off Road Premiums were built with a sunroof as many buyers would want that if they were buying an "up" model. Maybe not 99% but I would put money on more with than without.

How do these people get to be sales managers while being clueless as to vehicle details?

Mine is an ORP with no sunroof. Wisconsin/Milwaukee area dealer. I wanted one with KDSS and they had 2. Both were MGM with no sunroof.

I used to test drive cars just for fun, a lot. I would play dumb about the vehicles I was looking at to try to get the salesperson to initiate the test drive. I was regularly surprised by how little a lot of them knew about their products.

When I sold cars for a brief period, I'd sit at my desk and read through brochures. I generally knew some of the specs for everything we sold.

i noticed when shopping for a 4R that a used ORP without a moonroof would typically have rental fleet history.

When I picked up my 4R and the internet sales manager rode with me, I asked him about the rig. He didn’t have a clue and told me he just moved over from a Honda dealership. The sales guys jump around and I feel they don’t take the time to learn about the cars. You’re doing your job and tried to learn about what you’re selling. Kills me that a lot of sales people think they can sell without knowing the product.

Keyless entry I believe and mirror turn signals.
Look for the up and down arrows on the back hatch.

Managers manage people. I am an insurance broker and it is common to see managers who know very little about insurance lol.

Then maybe as part of managing their people, they should require the people under their purview actually know something about the vehicles they are selling. The buck has to stop somewhere.

The only exterior difference is the side turn signal in the side view mirror. From what I'm reading sunroofs might be optional on ORP.

I guess that is possible. I bought mine brand new but like I said, it was a dealer trade while still on the water. For all I know, it's original destination could have been as a fleet vehicle.

Yes, sunroof is optional on ORP, not mandatory. It’s not optional on OR. So if you see a sunroof, it must be ORP. I was wondering if you can tell ORP from exterior. Sounds like unless you see the side view mirror turn signals, no way to know from outside. Someone above did mention the up-down arrows on the rear hatch? I take it you can raise/lower the rear hatch glass standing at the hatch with buttons? Perhaps with key also? I don’t know how that works since I don’t have my 4 Runner yet.

Is the keyless entry a new option on the non-premium for 23?
I didn't think it was available on non-premium.

Edit: Keyless entry/ push button start is equipped on 23' non-premiums, SR5 and Off Road.

I guess the up/down arrows only work If the car senses to key fob nearby? Like the smart switch.

So far we have Texas, Ohio, Wisconsin, and me, in Colorado, with ORP's without moonroof. Clearly, it's not a regional thing, and based on number of responses in this thread, it's also not only a 1% thing. :p;)

As for the fleet vehicle history theory, not mine. My ORP was fresh off the ship at the Port of Long Beach when I got it.

(PS- Obviously my reply is meant for more than just Thatbassguy...his was just the post I quoted)

i was hoping to be one of those ORPs without a moonroof. it just so happened that what i typically found in my area were fleet vehicles. a lot of them orp no moonroof no kdss which was my original want but i couldn’t find the right price.
