    Anyone running these?

It will be a couple months before our 23 sr5 will be here but I'm already figuring out wheels and tires to replace the factory set up.

Seems like mostly good reviews. Really would like to see a picture of the 255 mounted on a 4Runner.

    Thanks

Sorry I can't help with the specific size, but I just wanted to say that I had a set of those on my previous 4runner, at 265/65/17 (I think). Excellent tires, all around. Particularly good in snow. They're not aggressive looking, but they perform well in a lot of conditions.

That's what I'm going for. Good on snowy icy roads and can do gravel, rough fire roads and maybe small rocks. I hate mud...so if they suck in mud that's ok.

And yeah, mt or aggressive at tires look cool but this 4Runner will be on the pavement most of the time.

Good thinking! I have a set of MT's that I use from around April through October, and then I swap them for 3PMSF all terrains.

When I bought these AT's, I didn't plan on getting a second set of tires, so I went a little aggressive, and LT for rocks. But, I might go with a set of something like the G015 when they wear out.

In all honesty, a set of those G015's would probably be fine for 99% of my driving.

Fun fact: my MT's are also Yokohama. :D

I'm set on getting G015's. I am pretty set on 285 LT version of these but would also be interested in seeing a 255/75 version of this tire on any 4Runner.

I've been searching hard and haven't found a picture of the 255/75 yoko on anything.

255/75 17 isn't very popular on 4runners. Not sure why.

    I think may be
    - because it doesn't provide much of a height advantage vs stock height
    - may be been a narrow 255 tires with more pressure on the smaller contact patch would wear out the tire faster?
    - because people go with more modern looking wider options like 275/70 & 285/70?

    Not sure..:)

I think you hit the nail on the head there.

Still thinking about doing them. Just a pinch taller, maybe not even a half inch. Little less rolling/wind resistance possibly? About the same weight as a factory tire.
    I like the skinny look.

    Go for it! I put 255 75 17 on my tacoma. I don't think you'll even notice a difference.

Yeah, I've seen quite a few tacos with 255s....seems like more 4Runners would run them. I think I'll give it a try when it's time. Sr5 is supposed to get here in March, planning on trd wheels on factory dunflops....for the summer at least.

I only did a 2" lift on the front of my 2019. Seriously thinking of putting on the 255/75/17. It's right in between the 285 and the 265 height wise. But ever so slightly narrower than the 265 (4%). I really don't want to give up a couple MPG's by going to the 285 and messing with fender liner and mudflaps. Hoping someone can post a pic running 255/75/17.

Quite a few tacos running 255/75. They look great. Would still be nice to see them on a 4Runner. I like how this looks(although not geolanders)

I'm also starting to gain more and more interest in this tire size.. mainly because I'm going to start traveling more for work.

I'm pretty set on 255/75s. Not sure what tire yet. If you check Walmart.com they'll have random "rollbacks" on some tires and they have really good prices. Sold and shipped by Walmart so should be legit. Had geolanders down to $170 and hankook at2 extreme at $207. I should have jumped on a set but I'm not quite ready for tires.

Our 4Runner is mostly the family travel rig so I want to maintain mileage and comfort. I also want to get away with a slightly taller tire and no lift.

Since I run the Goodyear Duratracs in 255/75/17 SL on OEM SR5 wheels for the winter, here are some personal opinions.

Yes, they are slightly taller than the factory 265/70/17's and since southwestern PA is all rolling hills, my 4R definitely downshifts more going up the hills than what it does with the OEM size tires. In other words, my ring/pinion gears are not a "true" 3.73 ratio, probably more like a 3.60 with the 255/75/17 size. Weight wise, my Duratracs are only 1 LB more than the OEM Bridgestone tires. But, there is NO doubt that my 4R downshifts more going up hills with the 255/75/17 tires on.

Come middle of March I will change out the OEM SR5 wheels/Duratracs with my OEM TRD OR wheels and BFG KO2's 265/70/17's Load Range C. These are heavier by a few lbs compared the 255/75/17 Duratracs but my 4R does NOT downshift as much going up hills with the BFG's on.

If someone lived where it is perfectly flat like Florida, I would think that you would not see a difference in the transmission shifting as much.

I have 255 75 17 Winter Force tires on the stock SR5 wheels for winter and new new summer shoes and going with Michelin Defenders in the 255 75 17 on my summer wheels.

Well I ordered a set of 255/75 geolandars. Should be here next week. Might just set them in the garage for a while till they get put on. I'll probably put a few miles on the stock tires.

Not helpful to the thread because I got a different size, but I did pick up a set of Geolanders as well.

So far liking the on road behaviors and off-road performance seems good for the conditions I put them through so far.

255/75R17's would change your effective gearing by less than 2% from stock size tires (effective ratio compared to stock would be 3.67).

I'm definitely considering 255/80R17's but will likely end up with 285/70R17 like everyone else.

Out of curiosity why 285/70 over 255/80? Asking as I’m going through the issue of deciding myself. If 255/80 A/T came in a C load I would do it tomorrow. I wish a 265/75 C load A/T existed from Toyo, Geolandar or Wild Peak.

Primarily aesthetics because I know in theory the 255's should be better in snow just maybe not quite as good in mud...

Toyo does offer a 34x10.50r17 in d load in the at3. But the toyo rt trail in 255/80 looks awesome!

    Here's a reviews and photos of the 255 80 17 toyo at3

Thx, but 34 is too tall for my set up. I guess that tire is 267/81R17. I’ll check your link on the 255/80.

BFGoodrich KO2 LT265/70R17 C BW 112S BFGoodrich tire number is 10892 It is a "C" load range tire, didn't want or need the heavier "E" load. Also a 3 Peak mountain snowflake tire for better winter conditions.

Hoping to have my 255/75 geolandars on Wednesday. Was going to save them till next fall but winter doesn't want to quit here so I think I'll put them on with the new wheels. I'll get some pictures up once it gets done.
