I want to run a beaver tail in the hitch receiver. But I am not a fan of it rusting. Is there any miracle "throw this sleeve in between" or something solution that allows me to run something without the friction causing a wonderful rust wonderland? Bless you thank you.

I slathered on the Anti-Sieze. Makes a mess but it works. Grease probably works, too. Have a rag handy when you remove the beaver tail.

Pardon my ignorance had to look up what beaver tail was. I would think if you’re not going to use it at all as step you could just wipe it down with fluid film regularly. I am assuming you would just use to pull someone out or vice versa?

I have a B&W drop hitch on my 4R and was advised to fluid film all but the the 2” ball and I also fluid the film the inside and outside of hitch and it looks great. I use a round wax applicator pad and apply. I do it a few times per year.

If you wanted to use as a step maybe just put some non slip tape on the top ?

Get an aluminum one. I would also get one of those clamp on shim things that keep them from rattling around causing friction.

Ahh gotcha! Good idea. Grease it is. Thank you!

Ah my bad. Beaver tail is basically a triangular step for the hitch. It has texturing to keep it from getting too slick. I'd run it full time. I load a lot of stuff on the roof. I have never towed anyone with one and doubt it will ever come to that. I will slather some ointment in there haha

I didn't even know about those clamps, but found it after you told me. Thank you!
