Dead pedal removal

Being 6’5’ with a 36 inseam I would love to be able to stretch out my left leg on long drives. The dead pedal needs to go.
Anyone done this on a 5 gen? Any tips or experiences to share appreciated.

 

The dead pedal is there to protect wiring. Right behind it is a big junction of harnesses, if you remove the dead pedal it’s just a matter of time before wet shoes get water into the connection.

 

OKAY. Great info. That means to me is that some kind of water tight cover has to be fabricated and installed. Not necessarily a show stopper for me, but great to know in advance.

can’t tell if any of the wiring is “under” the dead pedal. Does not look
like it.

 

Update, After stating to pull the carpet I had a thought that my 5’4” wife might be less comfortable without the dead pedal and it would likely be way more difficult to replace than remove. It’s not a huge problem for me. Can certainly live with it. So another sacrifice for good marriage.

That’s how you keep the years increasing on your marriage odometer. I made a similar decision last year by removing my lift. It wasn’t the only reason but it was a contributing factor.

 

The more I think about this you’re right. It’s more under the kick panel at the side that covers the wires, not the dead pedal itself. In my head J was picturing that whole cover getting removed, like hood latch release dangling there amount of removal.
