Right now I'm leaning towards a KDSS-equipped TRD ORP because I like the way the one I drove handled, and don't plan a significant lift. However, my dealer is having trouble finding one with KDSS. Are there any proven suspension mods that improve ON-ROAD handling that I could use if I can't find a 4Runner with KDSS?

Edit: I guess this should have been posted under "Suspension." Not sure how to move it.

Not really as you can have KDSS and a lift.

You could ask a moderator to move it.

The answer is "not really", but you can certainly improve the handling with a decent suspension upgrade.

Most good aftermarket shocks will firm up the ride, and actually reduce the braking nose dive, which KDSS doesn't help with. But, they can't truly duplicate what those thick sway bars do.

Have you driven a non-KDSS version also?

Yes, but not back to back. The non-KDSS was a few years ago. KDSS a couple of months ago. So... not exactly a scientific comparison, but I do recall the earlier (non) version felt a little mushy. Not so the recent KDSS version.

My current thought is to go with KDSS if I can find one. If it drags out too long I'll start looking at a possible plan B.

    Thanks for the input.

I drove both, but 2 months apart. The swerve test sold me on KDSS. Hopefully you can find what you want.

How times have changed. Just few year back we walk back to the dealership lot picking a trim we want, the color we want, options we want, etc.. When one of our friends want to buy 2020 he had to drive our 4runners to find the difference :(:(

I'm glad I jumped on it when I did. In late '18 and early '19 there was plenty of dealer stock. There's no way I would have gotten the same deal now.
