I currently have a rav4 but getting a 4Runner TRD off road premium
    None so far
I have heard this from many people that the inside feels squished, or you feel like you'r on top of each other? I have been in a couple 4Runners and I have always thought they were pretty spacious. Of course the people ive talked to are truck lovers, which I would view to be little bigger than the 4runner anyways right? What do you think?

Sure, the 4R is no F350 dually but it has way more over all interior space than most "trucks". It does appear kind of small in comparison to my Expedition but after driving it doesn't appear any less roomy.

It depends one what your coming from. I had a tacoma and needed more space so the 4runner feels huge.

I don't feel squished inside in the slightest bit. Sure, it doesn't have a center console the size of a filing cabinet like a Tahoe but it's also an entirely smaller vehicle all around so it would be very unfair to expect that. The fact that I can have my son's rear-facing seat behind mine (I'm 5'11") and not even need to adjust my seat tells me it's really a great sized interior.

I think it's the width and front shoulder room. The truck is a bit narrow and just about the same width and shoulder room as a RAV4.
If your coming from a full size pick-up the difference is pretty massive.
The 4R has front shoulder room of 57.8" and an F150 XLT is 66.7" - over 9" of more shoulder room.
Even a Taco which is slightly narrower then a 4R has half an inch of more shoulder room.

Certainly not as roomy as a full size crew cab. But, it's much more spacious than my Tacoma was.:notsure:

Along with the other comments, the 4Runner's relative narrowness when compared to most full-size trucks allows it to go places off road that the others can't. Not my experience personally, but I can't tell you how many times I've read that this is true.

6 foot 2 inches and I fit well with plenty of head room to spare, although not exactly room for me to use as a sleeper with all my camping junk...

Depending on what you are comparing it too. But it is small compared to a lot of others.

At 6’6” and 260lbs I find the 4Runner very comfortable (we don’t have the sunroof option). More comfortable than my 2020 Tundra. The Tundra feels like I’m entering a cavern (and there’s definitely benefits to that) but the 4Runner feels like it comfortably and securely wraps around me without being restrictive. I love the console of the Tundra; in it I keep a pistol or two with ammo, two small fire extinguishers, hand sanitizer, leatherman’s tool, napkins, roll of tp, and an organizer tray on top. The ‘runner doesn’t even have a decent place for sunglasses but it still feels comfy and I love her.

Having spent the last 25 years in a Wrangler TJ model, the 4Runner feels pretty spacious to me! It would feel even more spacious if I could have had a light-colored interior instead of the tomb-like black Toyota puts in all Off-Road models. I've noticed that all higher-end Toyota and Lexus cars have a light colored interior, so why the dark black in an off-road model that shows every bit of dust and dirt I track in to it?

Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
These people you're talking to are dumb fatass Americans who are probably going to be dead of a heart attack in a few years from being dumb fatass Americans so don't pay any heed to them because you've got superior cardiovascular health.

After researching what options I had, I chose what was best for me and my Family and have been more than happy with "my" decision.

Enough interior space for my wants and needs.

It's small compared to a Tahoe or Expedition, but compared to older SUVs in the same class, it's actually pretty massive. My neighbor has a WJ Grand Cherokee, and my 4Runner dwarfs it.

I feel like the 4Runner is pretty spacious, but it's typically just me and my dog in it. If I was trying to carry four or five people and gear, yeah it would probably get small.

I have a friend that has a 2017 sr5 version and it looks huge to me. The back is awesome and big compared to my RAV4

From Tacoma to 4Runner sure its bigger then jump into the Tundra and back to feeling small.

It will feel smaller than a unibody SUV with similar exterior dimensions.

    Dude, a 2023 Rav4 dwarfs a WJ. Everything's too big these days.

Yup, it’s the perfect size to let you root around in the woods, while still being a vehicle that is usable for every day needs.

Interior space is a funny thing. We rented a big ass expedition a few years ago for a road trip (since our 06 Sienna was getting up in age). It had pretty much no more usable space for our stuff than the sienna, but it did have somewhat more spacious seating.

Spaciousness for people is only useful if it’s needed in the first place. So if your already comfy in the 4runner, making it bigger wouldn’t really help all that much.

I remeber seeing an early 80s corolla wagon on the expressway next to a newer hyundai forte or whatever their small car is called. It was comical! I swear the corolla would have easily fit inside the volume occupied by the hyundai.

My Dad had an 80-ish SR5 hatchback, stick, red. Awesome little car! He hauled the whole family and the fishing boat with that thing!

Love mine around town and short highway trips, but yeah compared to the Sienna we had before and even the Pilot we have currently, the 4Runner is a bit cramped. But it wasn't designed to be a passenger hauler.

I thought the 3T-C was a 1.8, but I could be mistaken. 2T might have been smaller. Now I have to Google it.

Edit: both were available in the E70 Corolla. 2T was 1588cc and the 3T was 1770cc.

My brother had an FX16 hatchback that came with the 4A-GE out of the MR2, and it was stick. Total pocket rocket! We had a lot of fun in that car!
