Anyone know how long the wait time is to receive the second key fob from Toyota (2023 delivered with only one key fob due to chip shortages)?

You could try getting one on eBay. I wanted a 3rd key for my truck and bought a "blank" smart key and used a rented programmer to set it up.

^^, thanks. It's actually not urgent for me, just annoying not to have a spare on hand. FYI below is a pic of the sticker on the window of my new ORP bought 4 weeks ago today.

I'm sorry to hear that...bummer. I picked up my '23 ORP in early December and got both keys upon delivery.

I wonder if specific regions are affected worse than others. What state or region did the missing key fobs come from?

I picked up my new 4Runner 2 days ago, they said the 2nd key fob would be sent in about 1-3 months. We'll see i guess...

I picked my new ORP up 2 weeks ago. Salesman said 2 to 3 weeks. It was obvious by his face that he really didn’t have a clue but wanted me to stay a happy new owner.
A bit of a drag to have to guard the only key very carefully. I put a big bright yellow key ring thingy on it.

I bought my 23 ORP on 12-17-23 and I have had no contact yet from Toyota for my 2nd fob.

What year model? My 2022 limited didn't work with the rented key programer and three different keys I bought off eBay.

I even took the keys to a stealership and they couldn't program them.

The ones I bought were identical key fob model numbers (different in 2022 from 2021).

The key for your '22 is different than mine. My neighbor has a '22 and the key for their truck is much nicer looking. Mine is like this:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/353493924198

I bought this very one and was able to program it with a rented programmer.

Did the FCC ids match the key Toyota provided you?

Yes. I even checked the chips on the circuit boards inside the keys.

All I could figure is that the ones I bought off eBay must have been used before or programmed before before because they didn't work. Seems odd to me that they couldn't be reprogrammed, but I don't know if there's a sequence required to actually tell the circuit board on the remote it's time for programming or if there's a trip wire of some type that prevents them from being reused.

I used Tom's keys for the programmer.

Same thing is going on with Lexus; we bought in December, they said 2 months. Hopeful that it comes in this month.

I bought a used 2022 with only one key fob in January. I called them after 2 weeks of waiting for a phone call. They scheduled me in as soon as I called.

    Took 2 hours for them.

We picked up a 2023 Limited about three weeks ago (Jan 14th). Dealer said we would get the second FOB by ~April. Not a huge deal as I am the primary driver of the vehicle and drive it 99% of the time. But could be a real pain in the ass if I misplace the only FOB I currently have.

Picked up my SR 5 Premium on 12/30/22 and only got one key too, they didn't even tell me a wait time just told me I would get a second fob at some point and gave me the key portion to it along with the serial number tab.

The DeLorean did... remember, all it did was click when the key was turned until you slam your head into the steering wheel. Doc should have used a yota and it would've started every time!

Our 4Runner is a 2020 ORP, and 1 of our key fobs(recieved 2 back in 2020) met with an unfortunate lawn mowing incident. We ordered another from Toyota, that only took a few days to get it. It took longer to get back to the dealership to get it programmed, the cost was around 300 with the programming. What are the odds that a key fob falls out of your pocket, down into the pulleys and belt, and gets ground up? 50/50 I guess. BTW- this was during the 'chip shortage', summer of '22.

I also received only 1 key last month when I got the 4Runner. The dealership said I'll have the second key "sometime in the future"...

Old thread but I called Toyota Friday 3/31 Firs rep said it should be mailed in April and the other rep, in a voicemail call back, stated it would be sent to the dealership in Summer of 2023. Then I'd have to make an appointment to program. YMMV here.

My dealer is like 3 hours away so I hope they can send it to a local one or directly to me.

Based on this pic that's been floating around I'd say the info in the voicemail callback is correct.

I know somewhere there is an older thread on this but couldn't find easily. Just got a copy of Toyota's update.

4Runners produced from 11/7/22 - 12/28/22 were delivered with only one key, second key to be delivered later. The new update (see below) indicates the second key is now scheduled to be provided in June.
