Would like to know if drivers are having to top up their engine oil and at how many miles after oil change or how much oil is being added between changes to get a rough idea of what normal oil consumption is for these 4R truck engines. I haven't had to add oil to this engine so thinking this one at least has good piston rings. Thanks.

There will always be some usage but it's never to the point where you have to top off unless it's a LS. I check about once a week.

I've gone right up to the 10k interval without needing to add any. I'm approaching 150k on my 2013.

I really don't really like this engine very much, but it IS very good in regards to oil consumption (or lack thereof).

I always change the oil in my LS1 Firebird by 3k, because that's about when I'd need to add a quart.

I overfill my LS2 GTO by 1/2 - 1qt but it doesn't drink all that much.

My ‘08 Tacoma with the 4.0L had 350k miles and I never needed to add oil between changes

I keep my LS3 Camaro SS right on the top "Full" line when I change the oil & it doesn't use 1 drop until the next oil change.

I have a little over 40k miles and dipstick level stays the same between my oil change intervals (somewhere between 5,000 to 6000 miles)

I don't recall ever seeing the oil level drop. Also I should really check my catch can in it. :frustrated:
