Eibach Pro Truck Stage 2 - ride quality?

    Haha, no way! Reason I'm sticking with 2" is to not have to mess with UCAs.

    I plan on installing this myself, and with this being a ten year old New England vehicle, I'm sure nothing short of a hand grenade is getting the OEM UCAs out, haha.

    My kit was delivered yesterday. Looks like ordered just in time (but still kicking myself for not ordering Black Friday). I went to website to download some documentation and see it’s up $122 Cdn.

    I paid a shop to do it. I have 3 little boys and just don’t have time to spending doing stuff like that at the moment, unfortunately. I have a local guy that doesn’t charge too much so that made my decision even easier.

    Yes, for the $ this kit cost I believe its a great value. You can’t expect it to perform like Kings or Fox at a that price point but for daily drivers and weekend thrill seekers I think it does a great all around job. If your bombing hard core trails or consistent high speed desert runs probably not the best bet but majority of us are not out there doing that unfortunately! If I lived out west I would invest in a higher end suspension set up.

    With all this being said, I am actually switching to a Dobinson IMS set up for the heck of it. Will probably install that sometime in the next month or two. Im in Indiana so maybe wait until early spring after they won’t be throwing anymore salt down on the roads. My Eibach kit has only about 3000 miles on it, so if anyone interested in a lightly used 2.0 kit let me know!

    Not better, but maybe cheaper. It kind of weirds me out that my 4runner is 10 years old and still worth a decent amount. I'm thinking I'd like to sell it, put 10 grand in the bank, and use the balance to purchase something cheaper. I'm trying to get ready in case the real estate market turns into a buyer's market eventually, and being able to put 10k in the bank is pretty much a year's worth of saving.

    I'm thinking to replace the 4Runner I would probably buy a Tahoe or Yukon of this generation. I've always liked the look of these, and I miss having an eight cylinder.

    I often ponder the same questions. But I'd get into a old 80s or 90s land cruiser....maybe even a early 2000s sequoia

    I think if you go much over 2" they'll be necessary, regardless of kit. Eibach advertises the 2.75" kit as net needing them, but I believe that's misleading on their part.

    My plan was to stick with 2" specifically to NOT need to mess with the UCAs.

    I'm looking at the eibach to level my pavement princess. But doing research to get everything changed out at once while i have everything apart. I'll probably do JBAs while I'm in there just to be sure, but have doubts on the necessity.

    Of course I'm thinking of the drivers shim to. I'm not too much of a gangsta. So don't need the drivers lean. Lol.

    If your just leveling a "pavement princess ". You wouldn't need uca. Typically leveling only lifts the front 1"-1.75".

    Thanks. I'm just trying to stay away from the front lifting spacers. Had them on my Titan and made it ride like utter......well, you know.

    If you only want to "level" there's no harm in .5" spacers(which result in 1" of lift). These will not ruin your ride quality.

    First gen Sequoia is a good choice too. I actually looked for one before I got my 4Runner, I just couldn't find a clean one. Now I'm leaning towards the GMs because I really like the 5.3L and they seem to be cheaper.

    I love the early Land Cruisers, but ones from the 80s are pretty much non-existent in my area, and 90s ones are either stupid money or trail rigs. I don't think either would be really suitable as a DD either.

    As I understand it, Eibach has a claim of under 2.5” stock UCA will work. But in speaking with a couple of mechanics, that should be fine if you are doing nothing more than mild articulation for offroading. If you go full articulation often, and close to the 2.5” mark (or over) then yes to UCA upgrade. I’ll keep the lift to 2” max, and wait for a future date to do the UPCs. Pricey in Canada, almost $1K with tax for them.

    In regards to the UCA question, I ran a Bilstein 6112/5160 suspension set up on my previous Tacoma and thought it was OK w/out UCAs. When I lifted my 4Runner w/ the 2.0 kit I went ahead and did the JBA UCAs. I will say if you want the best ride and steering characteristics I would spend the extra $$ and install the UCAs while doing the coilovers. My 4runner rides like a dream with this set up and alignment was perfect. Will never lift another Toyota and not do UCAs after having them.

    Got the lift installed yesterday, no sway bar spacers and no UCA. I’m not doing any offroading anytime soon, and my goal was to set the front to be only around 2” in front. I’ll wait a week or so for the suspension to settle, and adjust as needed. Not sure what the setting is now (I think 2.5” out of the box), but everything aligned well with no UCA concerns for spring clearance. Now trying to decide between 255/80s or 285/70s.

    Awesome! Post some pics up when you get a chance, and let us know how you like it after having it for a little while.

    I really like the 255/80 size, my only issue with it is that they're only available in load range E, and are typically heavy. If you were already planning on a load range E, then I would definitely go with that size.

    Its fantastic you got 2in front lift the way you want.

    But just FYI in future if you decide something else, according to my friend in 4x4 shop its front KDSS spacer that it not good where he said something can potentially damage. Can't remember exactly. He said there is no issues putting rear KDSS spacers.

    Looks good! I wouldn't be any hurry for the reservoir shocks, I ordered mine 2 months ago and still haven't received a shipping notice yet. I should probably just cancel the order.
