I’m curious why Toyota didn’t establish this set up to begin with. As there is no free lunch, I wonder what the sacrifice is? Longevity, emissions, efficiency (oil consumption, mpg)? I do find it interesting that the Limited 2020 I test drove (dealer had a low mileage, used on the lot at the time I decided to buy) felt sluggish, where as my 2022 ORP does not. Wonder if it’s bad memory or if there is some difference between years? The Limited one I test drive was the first 4Runner I’d ever been in, and mine was the 2nd the day I picked it up (4 months later).

These form a while ago, i dont think i ever posted them, anyhoo its clean-ish now lmao.
up date on the Alp Halo 11 head unit... works perfectly, loads of data avaliable and a HUGE NO, it will not affect the AC (reroute "close" the vents) the corner vents work phenomenally. From all the way down in the armpit of South Texas (i can say that) born-n- raised in RGV- colonia scissors to central texas/NM/AL/TN/OK n GA, cool as a cucumber if the windows were ever rolled up lol

Got the spare down possibly the first time in the 4Runner's 13-year life. The hoist using a chain instead of a steel cable probably made it less prone to seizure from rust:

The spare tire was holding about 20 psi. I pumped it up to 34.

Installed some Morimoto headlights today. It actually took alot longer than the 15 minute videos out there. Took 2 hours with 2 people. I guess I'm just not mechanically inclined. I screwed up on adjusting the lights properly. My driveway is not leveled and flat.

Yesterday (Sunday), I got around to putting some KTJO 4x4 door bowl lights in. This was more of a chore than it should have been. The door panels themselves were the biggest issue. I've never taken the door panels off in my 4Runner before. I took them off my Taco (when I still had it) several times. I thought it would be just as easy.

    Nah.

4Runner door panels require a wee bit more finesse (at least for me). The back panels for whatever reason gave me the biggest headache. But I finally got everything back together, and I'm happy with the end results. These lights have a remote so you can cycle through different light colors. I have the MESO overhead lights (which I normally keep on red) and red VLEDS footwell lights. So I'm gonna try and keep a red theme going here lol.

As others have ran these tunes before and I have experience with the tune for 2019 Tacoma, I have not seen or heard of any long-term downside (you may drive it more aggressively (skinny pedal) and see decreased mpg LOL). My thoughts are Toyota programs the OEM settings for mpg and smoothness/quietness of the ride, to give the user the sense of quality in the overall driver experience.
I plan to run 91 octane on next fill up to experience the full increase in power and torque. Granted this is not like adding significant power (forced induction), but it is noticeably different from the "seat-o-the-pants" dynamometer!

is it tuned for regular 83 octane?
I'm on the fence of getting it. I don't have a lot of weight but the 285/70 tires, ughhh, its nice but also ughhh lol.

The KDMAX 9.0 tune is octane learning. They recommend you run your tank down pretty low and then fill up.

Added @BudBuilt Rock Sliders. The shop was able to do an amazing job trimming the Limited Edition rocker panels to fit and they even gave a higher clearance cut to the front facia.

    My 2c
Same same mine ran with a lil more burn. Not a giant umph but to me... noticeable. Ran a few tanks and then noticed mpg was not up to snuff. Went back to 91 mpg gains slightly for me from 10ish to 14ish. Also it is DIRTITTIES! I wouldn't trashing all together tho there's a use for it every now and then. ie when needing a lil more gurgle when towing perherpes

Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
Mine's at the dealer while they try to fix an intermittently working backup camera. I have the black screen when going into reverse problem. It seems to happen most when it's really cold. Yay.

Looks good. I’ve got the Sony AX8100, it’s ok. The Metra dash kit is garbage though. I need to try and put the factory one back on.

There is a very easy fix for that. I had the issue as well, but after removing the hatch interior panel, then cutting the tape to let the wire breathe a bit, the issue has been taken care of. I wish I could find the thread with the write-up on it.

I guess it is time for RCI skids...took the stock skids are far as they would go.

Blacked out badges, window deflectors, smoked 3rd brake light. I have a Borla muffler on order as well as some color matched engine cover stickers. I'll be painting the stock wheels soon as well. Falken tires in the fall as well.

Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
It's not hard to find via googling. I already found it a couple days ago. I just wanted the dealer to do it under warranty saving me the work, but they're still at the point of not being able to replicate it, nothing coming up as a diagnostic fault (I wonder if this system is high tech enough to even throw OBD2 codes to begin with), no info from Toyota, etc.

I'm going to get the 4Runner back tomorrow and take off the back plastic on Saturday morning to get access to the wiring you're talking about. I've taken off the equivalent piece on a Jeep Liberty before, and now I'm more properly equipped to do so than I was back when I did it on the Jeep.

Part of the fix wasn't just cutting the tape but also zip tieing the plug that connects to the camera. I think there's another smaller panel that I might be able to utilize and would avoid needing to take the whole thing off, but I don't know if I'll have enough space to work if I try going through that panel.
