2K miles is a waste unless you simply don't drive it and change the oil based on time.

Why not follow the user manual? Where is this 5W-20, 5W-30 coming from when 0W-20 is available?

    0W-20 every 5000miles. Simple.

He's got an 05 so single VVT-i 1GR. The viscosity is correct but still way to early to be changing it unless he doesn't drive much.

2019 oil related issue from today….my mobile one filter looked like this after 10000 miles….all bent up. First change since going aluminum housing. Is this normal? Also a pic of the new filter to show the metal housing setup BBEA53D4-2BCC-4610-97AA-0D921BCD0C35.jpg6255C46F-2625-4917-978C-9AD1EB747BA9.jpg

Did you swap the metal tube?

This should be in it’s own thread. OP has an 05 with the top mounted spin on.

I recently changed mine after local shop had changed it 5K miles previously. Didn't look anything like that. Looked new other than being soaked in dark oil. To me that also looks like the inner tube is too short. Weird. I also wonder if maybe the Mobil; 1 model filter is a tad longer than the OEM size, so it got squashed down when it mated to the engine block/fitting.

Then again, now that I look at a pic I took during that change, the old filter seems to have a hard cover/gasket on top? Also weird. Cause below that is a pic of the Toyota OEM filter I used to replace it...

Dunno why I didn't notice that before... Hmmm....

I change mine every 1,000 miles.

    Cheap insurance.

You 2,000 mile oil changers are just asking for trouble.

I run no oil drain bolt and just run fresh oil from a 55 gallon drum on my rack. The oil just drains into the street so there’s never oil older than 30 seconds in my engine. I change the filter at every stoplight.

Wrong forum, wrong interval - most likely trolling just to get reactions. No other reason for this type of thread.

agree own thread. That doesnt seem right.

I’ve never seem mine do that even on a filter I did run for 10k miles (due to mistakenly buying a wrong filter and choosing to keep the old filter in)

Bonus of this is that the chassis will have a nice coating of oil and (probably?) never rust!

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
Project Farm did a test on Rotella, granted it is not 0/20 but it does demonstrate how good modern oils are. He sent samples to a testing lab before and after a year and there was virtually no change in the oil, just diesel soot.
He has many other oil test comparison videos to check out as well. It seems Pennzoil Platinum is the best value for us, it tested 2nd only to Amsoil among many other brands.
Even the Walmart and Costco brand did well in testing in his other videos.
IMHO, you can’t really go wrong with any of the modern oils.
Amsoil did test ever so slightly better than the Pennzoil but cost a lot more.
Myself, whenever the odometer hits a division of 5K miles I do the service.
Note to owners of Honda wet clutch ATVs, Rotella does not have the friction modifiers like car gas engine oils do, therefore it can be used with wet clutches. I have used Rotella for decades in my ATVs and Goldie with no ill effects. I buy it in 5gal buckets from Tractor Supply when it is on sale(Cummins takes 3 gal/change!), T4 or T6, they are both good.
