Anyone changed their mud lights in their side mirror to a led bulb? When i tried swapping mine last night i noticed that the led light has a very weak voltage because it is lit up even not activated yet ( still in lock) and when i unlock it it lights up normally. You can not see the weak led light if you place the bulb in the housing only when it is still out. Any advice will be helpful. Tnx

MESO makes custom puddle lights. I haven’t tried changing mine yet.

VLeds makes a drop in replacement bulb for the factory unit. Probably not as bright as the Meso pod but I installed them and it’s a definite step up.

I recall that when I installed Philips 168 LED bulbs they also were slightly illuminated when “off”. The line that drives the mirror footlights comes directly from the Main Body ECU. I don’t know what that actual circuit looks like but it seems that it supplies a little bit of current which is just enough to slightly bias the LEDs on. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I ultimately installed the MESO puddle pods (highly recommended) which do not light up when in the “off” mode. It’s a larger array of diodes which probably requires much more current to light up.

They sell out fast so if you’re interested get notified by email when they’re back in stock, then order them quickly.

Interesting. I have changed mine, but hadn’t noticed any glow. I’ll have to check it out without my key fob on me.
