Looking to change all the Drivetrain fluids in our 4 runner with 40k. No clue how it spent its first 40k
Looks like toy uses a little different than the standard stuff out there.
    Anyone use Ravenol ?
Mainly looking at them because they offer the transfer case stuff.
Might as well get there gear oil too while I'm buying it.
I may go with toyota trans fluid it's more cost effective. Can anyone tell me how many quarts a drain and refill takes with a filter change, no flush ?

Any off the shelf gear lube of the correct viscosity will work.

It all uses the same. Toyota makes it confusing by saying 75 but absolutely no issues with 75/90.

In this case it doesn’t matter.

I just wish they would specify GL-4 or GL-5 I would feel better using something different.
I used GL-5 in my outboard with bad results finding out latter GL-4 should have been used.
I think I may just drop 140 for 2 for piece of mind

I’ve been using 75/90 in the transfer case since my 2010 Tacoma. It’s the same one now and never had issues.

I use Toyota ATF in the trans, NAPA synth oil (this oil is for my Tacoma) Redline in the diffs and Motyl Gear in the transfer case.

I think you meant to say GL-4 and GL-5. I’ve used Mobil One and Amsoil in the case without paying attention to the GL rating. The truck only died because it was totaled but never had any issues with the transfer case.

I don’t know of any copper in the case. I one said there may be syncros in there but I don’t think there is.
