id imagine we're a little more immune to hail damage. Tennis ball size, not so much. However the paint will probably come off with pea sized hail

The proof for me was buying a 2010 SR5 2wd from my wife's work who uses them as fleet vehicles. I bought hers with 333k on it and because it was a GA/FL vehicle there is no rust really at all. Everything works and it only needed a few basic things when I bought it to get it to my standards. She now has 345+k on it and it drives every bit as good as my 2013 with 114k on it. The 2010 was maintained properly up until we bought it by her work and they had everything done at the dealer. I hope it goes another 300k honestly. I'd rather buy parts and fix it than have the weight of a $50k car note over my head. I'm done with that. A well maintained, southern owned used 4runner with no accidents is pretty much a sure thing to last a long time.

The used car market is crashing and dealerships are still trying to milk the public. Stay strong people and we will win on the other side when dealers are giving vehicles away.

I agree that the used car market is on the way down. I don't think dealers will be "giving vehicles away" though. What I would predict is that they will be selling them for less than they paid for them. And they paid a lot for them!

What paint issues do 4Runners suffer from?

I am in Upstate, NY and usually see deer while driving home from work every night (I work 4 PM to 2 AM), so something like this interests me a lot. I have an Off-Road Premium, will something like that fit with the skid plate on the front?

There have been some complains about the lack of thickness of Toyota paint and the resulting stone chips. There have also been a number of complaints about Super White paint peeling.

This is true as we took advantage of the recall on white and blizzard pearl on our 2010. They repainted the front fenders, hood, and roof for free even though the vehicle had 335,000 miles on it. At least they were good on their word despite the mileage.

Im thinking about going to my buddy's small body shop and shoot an extra coat of clear on the roof and hood. Maybe spray the whole damn truck if I get the time or energy. Thick clear coat can do wonders for extra protection. Also, when and if you want to buff out scratches, you have a thick layer to work with before you get down to the actual color coat

Toyota Super White doesn't actually have a clear coat anyway. Supposedly the clear is mixed with the white and spayed on as one coat. A separate coat of clear wouldn't hurt anything unless it's improperly applied - which might affect resale value. If you can trust your buddy, go for it!

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.

Yes, the bumper I went with (Warn Winch Bumper) had holes drilled for the skid plate bolts. Can't speak for other bumpers.

EDIT: You will have to trim quite a bit of the factory plastic bumper to fit the winch bumper. Check Youtube. There are many vids how to do it. Pretty straight forward if you have any mechanical skills.
