2018 4Runner TRD Pro Cavalry Blue

Hi folks!

New member here, Just picked up a 2018 TRD Pro in Cavalry Blue. I'm a member of Tundras.com our sister site and coming from a 22 Tundra. I've always wanted a 4Runner in Cav Blue and jumped at the opportunity when I found this. But naturally I have a ton of questions!

Unfortunately, I don't know about all of the mods but from inspection, it shows to have a full King 2.5 Suspension lift with SPC UCAs. I'm having some trouble identifying the rear coils. As you can see from the pictures, it's got quite a hefty rake to it. I imagine the previous owner had some load in the back which is why it's so high. I'm guessing it's a Dobinson's Variable Rate Coil Spring.

So, that rake is a bit much for me and I won't be hauling a ton of gear back there. I'm wondering if you guys think a 1.5" rear coil replacement would level it, or if I should go with 2" rear coil.

Also, do I need to replace the bump stop if I reduce that much lift, or can I just use that existing bump stop?

I'm also noticing some surface rust on the joints. I'm no rust expert - does it look like I need to take care of the rust or just let it be?

 

Maybe its just me, but that looks damn perfect. But I do run a bit of rake myself. These 4Runners short of having insane rear spring rates sag when you put a can of baked beans in the cargo area.

I'm running the Eibach T13 +1.5" rear springs on my 4R, and really like them. I have a 10mm trim packer under the driver side spring. Up front, it is 23" from the center of the hub to the fender opening directly above it. In the rear, that distance is 23.5".

The springs ride nicely unloaded, but have no problem supporting a full load of camping and fishing gear for a week long trip.

The rust on the welds is normal. Clean it up and put some POR 15 on the welds. Coat the frame with fluid film or wool wax if you are in an area that uses salt/brine on the roads.

thanks! I can live with the rake, but the ride is pretty harsh back there. It must be a heavy coil. I can soften the ride and reduce the rake a bit at the same time by replacing the coils.

 

oh I hadn't seen those coils before, that's a solid option!

 

when you say clean it up, do you mean brush it with a wire brush, or something like a spray on rust remover?

 

Man thats an awesome 4runner! It even has superbump bump stops. No you do not need to touch those if you lower it. In fact they are meant for stock height(unless the have spacers)

It does have dob springs. Check there site the have tons of options.

You could always raise the front a little to even it out

 

thanks for the feedback, yeah I was going to go for the 1.5" stock load dobinson springs to replace them with. I'm pretty happy with the front lift at the moment.
