Front Runner Roof Rack

    2016 Toyota 4Runner.
    I want to get a full length roof rack. I search on Gobi, Baja, Front Runner and a few other ones. I really like the Front Runner Slim (FULL CARGO RACK FOOT RAIL MOUNT) – FRONT RUNNER SLIMLINE II but it requires drilling, basically putting 4 holes on your roof!!

    Does anyone have these on your roof?
    Any leaks, issues/problem?
    What about the wind noise?
    Is it easy or install a 40 inch LED light bar?

    Appreciate any inputs.

    Drilling holes into the roof of a new $40K vehicle scares me. I am sure plenty of capable people have done it with no problems, but for me, not worth the risk when there are many options that use the existing factory holes. I like the functionality of my basket type BajaRack but I was not prepared for the noise.

    If I could do it over, I would insist on the lowest profile (quietest) that uses the factory holes. I like the look of this ecotechne model.

    quite a few people actually have the full length rack and no problems with the drilling.

    others have figured out a way to secure the front without drilling.

    no doubt, but I wouldn't want to risk being one of those that had a problem. That's just me.

    Front Runner is working on a no drill option also

    I'm a fan of the look of the full Prinsu, but the drilling is a hard pill to swallow. Any specifics on the drilling workaround?

    Well I found out that Gobi uses sticky tapes for the 2 front mounting points.
    I also asked around and 2 guys told me they used the same method and used sticky tapes. It doesn't sound so secure and I also called Frontrunner and they don't me they don't recommend uses sticky tapes.

    After I receive them I'll see if the sticking method could hold it otherwise I will have my auto body guys drill for me.
    I'll keep you guys posted

    Bajarack uses sticky tapes for the front two legs on their long racks as well. No issues here.
