Just replaced mine on my 2020. The OEM lasted 2 years. I should be driving it more so the battery will last longer. Just reached 5000 miles.

Charge it up from outlet if sits in the garage or short trips. I use NOCO charger and top all my vehicles off every 3 month.

Adjusted the tailgate striker in an attempt to solve the tailgate creek. We’ll see what happens! New front and rear wiper blades for the 4Runner and Highlander.

Oh, re: snow. I had already removed the stock one for a new bumper I’m getting. Well coming back from Mammoth all the slush kept getting kicked up on the windshield and I had no fluid to clean it. Was a brain fart on my side for sure.

Got the windows tinted. Amazing what a difference it makes. 15% all the way around and 50% on the windshield

I also see Toyo OC. I'm keeping my eyes on what people say on those. I'm very interested on them as they check lot of boxes for me. :)

Good looking rig. Wondering what load rating Toyos you're running and what you think of them?

Tires are awesome! nice and quiet for an A/T but still have a nice aggressive look. It's my wife's 4Runner and she loves them. I also had a set of 35's on my F-150. but I just traded that in.... for something a little more me.... and the Toyo's will be going on the new rig as well after I wear out the new tires a little

I have noticed the passenger rated AT3's have a much flatter side wall design whereas these are actual "lugs" and are 3D if that makes sense

I don’t understand tinting the front windshield. If you live in a city and only drive in a city then I guess it’s ok. There are no street lights where I live and it’s very dark in the winter, let alone the fog and snow. Just seems like a bad idea for rural areas. Is there a valid reason for doing it?

Aaahhh yes - that is a treacherous journey without fluid! I’ve done 1,000’s miles on 395!

I don’t believe it is a complete window tint. Just at the top for the sun. I was in Arizona and it helped a lot. I don’t have it here in North Carolina now.

I did this mistake on my SR5 and couldn't see properly in forest roads. A rock broke my windshield so problem solved. :p

I think for some like me that park their truck outside, where windshield faces south … the interior can degrade quicker. I do plan on tinting mine the lightest at 5% (95% of light flow through), but do ceramic to help keep car cooler and protect dash.

Here in Southern TX, it is hot as hell! I did the windshield with the highest quality lightest tint available from Xpel. My thought is that it will help save my dash and keep the interior a little cooler when at work.

I have the whole windshield tinted at 50% with a strip at the top. I do it because my commutes to and from home are directly in the sun both ways. It helps cut down on glare and brightness. I also live in an area where there are not a lot of back roads or anything like that so it really doesn't get that dark. But if you sit in a vehicle with 50% on the windshield and no one told you it was tinted, you probably wouldn't even think about it or realize it. I would never go anything less than 50, tho. It is also full ceramic tint so it helps cut down on the heat in the vehicle here in FL. Another minor plus from it is it looks fantastic from the outside. definitely gives the vehicle a more premium look. hope this helps explain my reasoning.

I did my tint with something called 3M crystalline. CR70 is a recommend one for windshield, 70% light pass through. The darker shades are excellent for other glasses. 3M crystalline claims that it is the best for heat energy reduction. Only 3M crystalline certified shops are allowed to install them.

Just shared this if anyone looking for the best. 3M site will tell you where you can find a crystalline certified installer.

Like some others have said about tint on front windshield, I had it done on my blue Tacoma. When I originally bought it, the dealership had ZERO grade tint (like you couldn't see anything inside from the outside). But it was strictly cosmetic.

Enter August 2021, had whole truck re-tinted with ceramic tint (including front windshield). It wad still dark, but it was 5%. Windshield was 30%. Helped reduce the summer heat here in Mississippi.

Eh, did the secondary air pump intake filter thing. The foam was fine (2020/52k), but it is one of those things I'm going to try. Maybe better airflow will improve my California winter blend of fuel MPG drop of 10%. (Many car dorks are starting to wonder if the mix is more than the 10% ethanol that it is supposed to be or if the average octane is below 88.)

I've ordered 3 to test. The one pictured is https://amzn.to/3HqR0jL

I didn't want a K&N because introducing more dirt getting through and adding aerosolized oil into that secondary system could cost dearly.

How do you get that cover off? Been looking to inspect that filter as well, since they say they are foam and can fall apart eventually with age. That’s the only reason I’m aware of to inspect or replace them. I wouldnt expect any mpg gains though with whatever replacement filter is used, since that pump only blows air into the exhaust to burn excess fuel in the exhaust stream. It only runs for 15-30 seconds after the engine is started until the catalytic converter gets hot enough to catalyze.

It's a snap on outer cover and a Torx (2.5) on the center of the system cover. There's a gasket on the seam, so it's sticky. Hold down the base and pull the cover up.

Upon opening, note the location and orientation of the foam filter.

Ah, I was definitely under the impression it was always on and any better flow-though improves efficiency. A catalytic converter bypass could save a few gallons, but California has those stupid (and ever-so-pesky) catalytic converter rules...

Now Im confused lol. I meant the cosmetic cover, because I was thinking it’s the only thing necessary to pull out the little pod filter. But did you have to take apart the pump housing to remove the filter?
