Powdercoat '15 Trail Wheels?

I really like my stock 2015 Trail wheels and I really like the matte black look, similar to Plastidip. I have my wheels PlastiDip'd currently but want a more permanent solution.

My question is has anyone had any experience powdercoating their wheels before? Is the cost close to or less than what a new set of wheels may cost? Did you have to put your truck on blocks, take wheels off, take tires off wheels then bring to the shop? Anyone have any experience with this process?

I plan on calling a few shops tomorrow but any input is appreciated, thanks!

 

I got a price a while back, don't remember exact numbers, but it was close to the price of just buying some aftermarket wheels.

 

I think it's gonna vary widely depending on who I go through. Tried calling one of the local shops around here a few times with no answer unfortunately.

 

With a lot of prep work and a little patience you can paint them. I painted my wife's wheels and they came out great. Two coats of primer, 3 coats of paint, 5 coats of clear and it looked like factory paint. Even made it through multiple tire rotations. Cost me about 40 bucks and a Sunday.

 

Competition will help with price as well, just depends where your located. I live kind of in the middle of no where so not much competition to keep prices down.

 

I don't know that I'm man enough to handle the painting myself. I just don't wanna mess it up and regret not getting it professionally done. I do have some friends who could help with this so it is still a possibility. Thanks!
