Eibach pro kit stage 1

Looks great! What is the backspacing on those wheels? I'm looking at something similar and wanted to see if they rub. Thanks!

 

Wow, things have really changed lately with Wheelers and Eibach. I ordered the Pro Kit Stage 1 struts and shocks (no springs) back at the beginning of the pandemic from Eibach directly, but I was told they were closed. The only issues then were trying to find a vendor who was open, to have them shipped. I eventually ended up getting the struts from Wheelers, and the shocks from Shock Warehouse, without too much trouble. Now it seems placing an order with anyone is a crap shoot at best, with no real way of knowing when and if you will get anything Eibach. Sad to see.

 

Finally got my Eibach Stage 1 last week after a 3 month wait. Ill start on it at the end of May or beginning of June...Spring gobbler is upon us here in Pa.

 

I posted this in another thread, but it's relevant here too with all the backordered suspension purchases. Keep in mind it might not be complete units you're waiting on (like shocks for example), but suspension components made overseas and used to assemble the shocks stateside. Have a watch if you have a couple minutes.

Odd that my card was charged yesterday for an order I placed looooong ago, got kind of excited thinking they might have shipped. Have not received any notification so I will put a call into Wheelers Monday and see what the status is.

 

Exactly what happened to me...called them hoping to hear the lift shipped, but only to find out that not only had it not shipped, it was delayed another month. That plus the "accept we charged you or cancel your order" response, I cancelled. Shady...

Hopefully this is not the case for you and yours did ship.

Here is Eibach's response to this issue from the other forum:

"After speaking with the engineering team and reviewing previous development installations with consideration of production tolerances, the mounting bolt can be safely torqued to the manufacturer's specified 118ft-lbs without play in the bushing, which we have found warrants the use of this OEM Toyota bushing over the past 8 years."

 

^ That worries me. The manufacturer's spec is ~70 ft-lbs, not ~120. Are they thinking of the lower spindle bolts? Alignment cam bolts? Probably just an(other) oversight, lol.

I knew that off the top of my head. And I'm not even a professional.

"Tighten that shit down!" Just kidding. Honestly Eibach is a great product but a couple of washers will keep you from having to employ gorilla mechanic techniques and bend/destroy the mount point. Interesting reading and I really wanted to go with Eibach as I respect the company but Ive moved on to another product. Great stuff though. Enjoy it.

Or he just made a mistake posting the torque spec in that response. Mark at Eibach is a sales guy, not an engineer.

I know both you and I properly torqued this bolt to 70 ft-lbs. I'm also certain that I have zero play at the lower shock mount after torquing this bolt properly. If my shocks were loose after torquing them to spec, then yes, there would be an issue.

But there is no play, so I'm still struggling to see where the issue is.

Clearly it isn't a big enough problem for you to replace the shocks.

 

Congratulations Kouki you have loose lower control arm shock brackets. On the other board a member had tight lower control arm shock brackets.

So the question is did you return these shocks, tighten them down, or is it still undone in your garage, waiting for Eibach to redesign the thickness of their bushings around your sheet metal brackets?

 

Did you check in with Wheelers? Did you get lucky and your kit shipped?

Clearly, some of you don't mind that you've bent your 4Runner to Eibach's will.

Apparently, some of us do mind doing that to our own 4Runner.

Mine are bent now, too, because I also trusted Eibach. But unlike you, I'm not cool with it.

By the time I discovered Eibach's laziness/incompetence/oversight/greed/whatevertheeffyouwannaguess, I was far too into the process to make a change that wouldn't result in significant expense on my part, so yes the shocks are still installed on my vehicle. The mounts were bent by the time I figured this out, so what's the point of switching back? As we've now established, time and time again (so why the hell are you all still going on about this?), the only downside (most likely) to this is bent LCA mounting points. Hopefully this will be easy enough to remedy when the time comes. All that said, I would have skipped the Eibach's had I known this, which is why I shared it with the community. Their actions make some of us think.. hmm.. I wonder where else they've cut corners? But not everyone thinks like me..

Setting the snap ring to the top level should net you around 2.5"-2.6" of lift.

Possibly regretting resurrecting this thread, but does anyone know if the Stage 2 kit uses the same bushings? I couldn't find specs. Even if it doesn't matter (fact or opinion-wise) that the brackets bend due to the bushings not being the same size, I haven't read anything about any other lift kit with this concern.

 

So I set eibach and email, asking about shock measurements extended/collapsed

Does anyone find there eibach rears to short?

 

Rear eibach = oem shock. Same lenght fully extended.

 

Quick question. With the front being "adjustable". To fix the 4runner lean instead of a shim could I just set the driver side strut one notch higher? Or is it best to keep them even?

 

You could, but how much is your lean?

On the adjustable shocks, each notch is 0.9" higher than the previous one. Is your truck leaning 1"?

You'll probably need a shim/spacer in the back as well.

 

I saw a set of bilsteins set on different settings reason I asked.. It leans a 1/2". So yeah I guess the shim will work out better. Thanks

 

A lot of times they do this on Bilstein 6112's because they have less space between settings.

 

Question for you guys with the Stage 1 Kit. I have mine set at the lowest notch, I do not have excess weight in front but I am planning on installing a winch and bumper. If I move it up to the second notch from the bottom, Will the lift now be too high for a KDSS equipped vehicle and is the ride quality goi g to be compromised? FYI I do have JBA UCA’s.

 

I would guess that the amount you lift by moving up a notch will be negated by the addition of the winch and bumper. So you'll probably be sitting very close to where you are right now with those changes. This is assuming you have the Eibach 2.75" lift coils and not some super heavy duty front coils.
