Should I buy this 2016 4runner?

Hey everyone, I’m debating on getting this used 2016 TRD Pro 4runner with 72k miles. The guy wants $35k but I would try to get it down closer to $30k. It looks practically brand new still, 2 owners, claims no accidents but I haven’t done carfax yet
I currently own a 1st gen tacoma (never selling it) and looking for a newer 4runner but don’t want all of the stupid tss sensors. My girlfriends Camry has that and I can’t stand it.
Anyways, anyone here with the same model year trd pro? Would love to hear your opinion after actually owning it and if you would purchase it again used with this amount of miles at that price.
Also anything specific I should look out for with this model year with somewhat higher mileage?
Also, I’m very curious to know about the 4wd shifter, is it actually a manual j-shift transfer case like the old school one that’s in my tacoma or is it just a fancy shifter that’s all electronic still? It’s the biggest reason I’m looking for a trd pro or off road. I don’t want to have to wait if I end up in a situation I need 4wd asap, even though that would be rare but I also just like the reliability of a manual shifter rather than more electronics

30k still seems expensive for 72k miles but compared to other used 4Runners it doesn’t seem like a bad deal, I’m seeing other models with around 60k miles around the same price.

I appreciate everyone’s input in helping me decide if this is a good deal or not.
    Thanks!

The most important question: is it Quicksand?? That's arguably the best TRD Pro color.

If so, could be an ok deal if you like the color, if not then meh. The only really special thing about the earlier Pro is the color, and people will pay a premium for it.

I would look for a TRD Off-road (called "Trail" from 2010-2016) as a better value if color doesn't mean anything to you.

As far as the miles, not a big deal. I bought my 13 Trail at 6 years old with 79k miles on it, nearly 4 years and 70k miles later the only thing it's required beyond normal maintenance is a AC recharge for $189 at the dealer.

You can get a 4R without all the TSS stuff through 2019, so that gives you a good range to shop for. Mileage is not an issue if you have service records. Biggest concern is condition of the frame (rust).

Yes, that is an actual manual shifter for the transfer case vs. an electronic dial.

As far as price - it seems nothing is a great deal these days. You have to decide what you're willing to pay...a Pro model will always command a somewhat higher price tag.

Haha no it’s not quick sand. It’s just the dark grey. I like quicksand but not going to base a sale off of the color. I would plan to keep this 4runner for a long time so I’m not really thinking about resale especially over a color, but it is crazy how much people drool over quick sand, it’s cool but personally I’d never pay a premium for it, but that’s me Lol. I was finding a few Trails but they were almost the same price with about the same amount of miles, so figured why not get the pro with leather and everything else for an extra $1-2k above the others.
Yeah I’m not really worried about mileage, my brother had an 07 he bought with just over 100k miles and put about 40-50k on it before he sold it and took multiple trips with no problems. One of the biggest reasons I want a 4runner over another tacoma is the engine, I’m not a fan of the 3.5 even with the 6speed manual, and the 4.0 in the 4runner have been in there so long and have truly stood the test of time

Ahh, I thought they added the tss to all models in 2018. I’ve been expanding my search but also keeping it somewhat later model to kinda get in the middle of still newer but not forking out 40-45k on a used 4runner. These dealers are crazy, my local dealer had a 2020 with 25k miles for 44.5k and a 2022 with 6k miles for 46k. Both trd off road
that’s good to hear about the shifter, it’s cool they still offer it as a manual T-case, its so much better. My brothers 07 4runner would take forever to actually engage with the dial, don’t know if that’s just his or all tend to be like that but a buddy of mine has a 16 and he said it takes a while for his to engage with the dial 4wd

Gotcha. If this price is in line with what you're seeing in your area for non-Pros, then yeah, makes sense to go with that. It's frickin nuts what these things go for (new AND used).

Agree about the engine as well. I don't really care for the 4.0 myself, but yeah that 3.5 is terrible.
