    Hello from the Boston suburbs!

Ive been on the wait list for an ORP with a few different dealers for months... Noticed last week an unreserved Pro showed up on the incoming inventory of a local dealer - reached out and talked them down to just a little over MSRP plus a nice trade in allowance on my Taco so I jumped on it.

I'm coming from a 2014 Tacoma TRD OR (I bought new and only had 45k when I traded yesterday) - so the engine, transmission etc all feels right at home. The ride is smoother than my Tacoma and the fit and finish definitely feels better (no dash rattles :) ) I feeled spoiled in this, all those magazine reviews who call it "jurassic" obviously haven't driven a gen 2 Taco with cloth and manual AC ;)

I'm not a rock crawler, about the most this will see are forest roads in VT/NH/ME and some beach driving, so it will stay basically stock and live a pampered garaged life. 60 miles on it and I've already ordered the stock SR5 muffler to swap out. I may also change the tires, Nittos felt fine on dry pavement but I want something 3PMSF for new England winter driving. I had Nokian Rotiivas on my Taco, but considering maybe those new Toyo Open Country 3s?

    Thanks for the welcomes!

Small world... my wife and I had an apartment in Newton Corner when we first got married. Moved out to 495 belt when kids came along and we bought the first house.

Ha! I know Newton Corner well!
I graduated from Newton South with Joe Rogan in 1985.
    495 was relatively quiet in the 80s. Now it's a madhouse! :)

Im about 10 years younger than you ;)

Spent a couple summers in Brighton during college... mid 20s lived in Newton, then Waltham, then back to Newton (newton corner and "the lake") then moved out to the far end of metro west about 15 years ago.

    Thanks for the welcomes.

Buying a truck over Thanksgiving weekend was bad for the wallet... too many tempting black Friday sales. I got a deal on the OEM exhaust, have new tires coming and picked up a bunch of small cosmetic things like interior LEDs, etc.

Longer term I have a few other thoughts - chief being modding the skid for oil filter access as I do all my own work.

Whats tires did you order? I was going to recommend some.
I got a deal on Yokohama Geolander AT tires, they were buy 3 get 1 free. 3 snowflake rated living in New England:D Check out Sullivan tire around Boston area. I also got road hazard protction, lifetime balancing, lifetime alignments, lifetime tire rotations.

Ended up ordering the Toyo’s. Local shop I use is backed up so install this week

In the meantime the truck saw it’s first snow :) Only a dusting this time, looking forward to a good deep snow to see if it feels much different than my old Tacoma on slick roads (since the 4R has more weight on the rear).

I ran it till the gas light came on the first tank just to see... interestingly it lit when it rolled over to 39 miles left indicated and took 18.3 gallons. The computer came out very close to what my calculator said (15.5mpg over mostly slow 30ish back roads)... but it seems very conservative for a 23 gallon tank. I guess if I ran it to zero miles I would still have at least 30 miles of reserve range. This is just an experiment as I typically fill at no less than 1/4 tank.

That's been my experience too, if I fill when the light comes on it's an 18-ish gallon fill-up.

I ran it to zero once for the hell of it, and if I recall correctly it took about 20 to fill.

The mod bug is biting me already... did a couple cosmetic things like graphics (thanks Chris), interior LEDs and interior storage organizer. Have the new tires going on tomorrow and parts are on the way to do the stock muffler swap (buy-bye highway drone!). Still smiles every mile...

The one thing I'm so-so about is those Predator steps. Having something helps - especially for my little ones - to get in the cabin, but if they didn't come with it these wouldn't have been my first choice. Im just waiting for the day I bang a shin on one.... Where I live I have no use for real rock sliders however.

New tires are on. If anybody wants to buy a set of Nittos with only 390 miles on them reach out (I am still too new to be able to post in the for sale section)

[EDIT: Put the tires on marketplace and had about a dozen inquires within 24 hours. Tires will be gone today.]

Stock exhaust parts should be here any day now.... cant wait to make that swap and put the TRD exhaust up for sale as well :)
