I'm new here just picked up my 2023 Sport yesterday. Anyone make a mat that covers the entire rear area, up to the front seats?

I'm looking for a plastic tray like design for hauling deer. I don't believe canvas will work. I should have posted, how are owners hauling deer.

I’d love to have a nice big mat for general cargo duty. I’ve looked around, but it seems the only option is to DIY or buy a fancy “flooring” system. I’d love something like what goose gear makes, but the price makes your eyes water.

If you’re gonna haul a deer, maybe one of those big “game sleds”. A local farm supply store might have something like that, or other big tub-like things that might work.

Welcome to the forum Rick. If you’re referring to a gutted whole deer, I’ve used a receiver hitch mounted basket rack to get from the field to camp. Not sure I would want one inside my truck.

In our Rav4 we have a plastic mat that covers the back floor and back of seats, so when seats are down the whole floor is covered. However, each piece on the seat backs is cut so individual seats can fold down. And that wouldn’t work for a deer. But a tarp would.

Previously I used a tarp in the back of my pickup which had a Bed Rug liner and shell. The heavy duty tarps work but I was hoping for a molded, one piece plastic liner.

Never have been a fan of the receiver hitch carriers, it gets nasty dirty back there. I don't mind have the deer and smell in my vehicle.

I would think a one piece plastic liner covering the rear cargo area and the folded-down seat backs, while useful for your purpose, would have so little demand that no company is interested in the R&D to develop something like that...I could be wrong...

Good lord, $1575 for the Goose Gear solution! I'm thinking to hit my local farm stores.

I don't hunt, so take this with a grain of salt. It might not be elegant, but maybe just buy a large heavy duty blue tarp? Throw the tarp in, and then kind of wrap the deer in it to contain any spillage. I'm thinking that might make it kind of easier to remove the deer afterwards, just drag the whole thing out?

I have a full length cargo liner in mine, but it's more of a "water resistant" fabric thing that I bought for my dog. Made of that dog seat cover material. I wouldn't think it's heavy duty enough for your application.

HEY !!! Killu, that's exactly what I've been looking for - for general purposes. When you receive it, start a new Thread on this Forum and let us know what you think. I'm ready to order one. Looks good installed too. Looks like you can raise and lower the back seats while still leaving that portion of the mats intact. Thanks again.

I decided to go with an Otter medium s20221120_103539.jpg led. My research suggests it is the largest that fits with the seats down. It was $65. Now I'll work on tie downs so it doesn't slide around while driving.

I had something similar. We dubbed it "The Dead Sled". Was way easier to drag a deer in the sled than dragging the deer the old fashioned way. Slides across grass and leaves nicely. In the snow we would take the deer on a bobsled run down the hill.

Give you guys credit. I could not put a deer inside. Even my buddy with a full size truck uses a hitch insert basket each year and no issues.

Heck for often as I go I’d rent a small uhaul trailer even and hose it out when done and good. That’s just me though

Nice! Now have to make a sled-slide-slide out and sell it on the overlanding market for 1500 bucks.:p

I think you missed a golden opportunity to teach the next generation of kids about hunting. I remember riding in the back of the car as a kid, and being fascinated seeing cars with deer strapped to the roof or the trunk/hood of a car.

Maybe the market demands a deer roof rack mount, or external molle panel deer mounts….hmmm:laugh:

We use to borrow my mother's car to go deer hunting and tied the deer across the trunk. My oldest brother and I carried out two PA does on top the trunk of his 65 Mustang. The good old days were different than now. When was the last time you saw a guy carrying out a deer slung over his shoulders?

It much better carrying them in the back then in the front, their hooves scratch the dash.

There are other threads here that i gave a link to, but it is a rubber truck bed mat i got on Amazon. I got it longer than I needed so i could have a piece for pulling over the bumper. Stuff does not slide around on it, and my dogs have very good traction on it. Also when i put the seats up i just roll it back no problem. I hardly ever put my seats up though, and when it gets muddy or dirty i just pull it out squirt it off. My boy Cosmo really like’s it.
