Does anyone know if I can order a cigarette lighter for my 2021 runner? and will a cigarette lighter work in the existing outlet?

Do you have one in the rear cargo area you can swap? I believe the plugs should be the same. Most ppl do the opposite, switch their cig lighter for the rapid dual usb charger.

No one answered the OP's question about whether or not you can use a lighter element in the power port. Personally I'm not sure you can as they pull quite a bit of current - the wiring may not support that kind of load and/or you may blow the circuit fuse.

I've tried several that I had from other vehicles in my garage and none worked, my Toyota parts guy said they're no longer making them, and I ordered a cpl from azon, no dice, they don't work.
If you find a cigarette lighter that works, please post a link?

To OP’s question, you’d probably have to swap the entire port out.

If I recall correctly, there’s some extra bits required in a cigarette lighter 12V outlet that we don’t have anymore.

That said, haven’t run into it since it came with my dad’s 01 RAV4.

I daily drive an '06 Tacoma with a perfectly functioning cigarette lighter, and it has a bonus stock CD player (also fully functioning) and A/C as well (lucky I guess). I'd imagine that a higher amperage fuse and 12 AWG wiring might be required. If you can confirm or install those two things you'd be golden.

I drive a pickup with two cigarette lighters, and ash trays in all 4 doors, and an ash tray in the dash.

My Isuzu had a cigarette lighter that would launch out when it was heated, good times. Especially good times when a passenger pushed it in without me noticing; surprise firestarter is always fun in a moving vehicle.

    Thanks for the memories, OP.

I think the proper move is light it with a bic, then quickly roll the windows down, or take the steering wheel with your knees and cup your left hand (like you'd do on a windy day). Both of which are less dumb than smoking in the first place, so they should be excusable.

Also, I'd personally recommend nicotine patches if you are interested in quitting, but so far unsuccessful. They worked well for me (it's been over 9 years now, smoke-free). Don't know if it's still around, but there was an app, Cessation Nation that gave you neat updates based on how long it had been since you last smoked (e.g. blood pressure compared to a normal smoker, lung cancer, heart disease risk, etc.).

    Best thing I ever did.

But why would you do that? I have never had the inclination to jab my entire finger tip on anything that is/ could be potentially hot. Maybe a little touch to verify temperature. But never to the extreme of slaming my finger into like I am trying to hit an eject button.

A 40+ year ago experience for me too, and also still remember the pain. I was with my Mom and Dad out shopping for travel trailers and I was in an RV snooping around by myself. Pushed in the lighter and when it popped out I looked at it but the coils did not look hot, so…

My excuse, because when you’re a little kid you don’t know any better.

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
I don’t think the modern receptacles can take the heat.
