Apparently tonight was the first night i really drove my new ‘23 TRD ORP (cut me some slack I’m old).
The automatic high beams are different. Not sure i like them or not.
What do you think about them? Can they be cut off?

If you don’t like using the auto high beams there’s a button on the left of the steering wheel that you can press which will make it as if you never had auto high beams

I use them regularly and I like them. They are quite useful.

You might wanna try keeping automatic headlights off in city and turn them on out side of city. In rural roads they work pretty good with on coming vehicle and turn back on when it passes. Pretty convenient.

My only complaint is they are not bright as the previous dedicated highbeam bulb.

    (Non stock mod for me)
If I could find a easy way to tap a wire without removing the headlight assembly to trigger my additional lights it would be soooo awesome..!!

Totally doable, this is how I have my light bar wired. On my 2021 there are two 10 amp fuses for high beams, H-LP LH and H-LP RH. Tap one of these for the trigger through a relay and you’re GTG.

I've only tried them a few times and so far I'm not a fan. They kept kicking up and down from road signs, and flashing people as they got closer. I gave it a few tries and now back to old fashioned manual flipping up and down.

Remember, the high beams not being as bright as your previous vehicle has nothing to do with the Automatic High Beam feature. All that feature does is turn the high beams on and off instead of you having to. I don't care for it and have it disabled on mine.

As for improving high beam performance, there are many ways to do that. I added some Diode Dynamics SS5 spot beams behind the grill - tied into the high beams - and that problem is now forever solved.

Let me try to find that. That would be awesome if I could do that.

It's in the fuse panel in the engine bay. I also tapped the tail light fuse (TAIL) located in the cabin fuse panel to send power to the switch to illuminate it when the lights are on.

Properly wiring these switches can be tricky with some trial and error thrown in as they don't seem to have a standard wiring color convention--I had to YouTube several different walk-throughs before I found one that was almost spot-on.

If it's helpful, here's my wiring diagram for how I wired my light bar to be triggered with my high beams--really useful for turning off the light bar with the stalk versus fumbling around for the dash switch.

And in keeping with the original post, yes, the automatic headlight system will also work with any accessory lights wired in this manner.
