Hey all, curious what rear camera setup everyone is running - especially those with a swingout. Currently have a license mount that I’ll need to adjust when the new bumper comes. Thank you!

I went with this one, on a gen 5. I personally like a bit more height to my view.

Yeah I’ve thought about that as I have a spoiler, where’d you run the wire out from?

I found their install video on YouTube. Took me about 15-20 minutes (after I screwed it up the first time).

Sometimes I'm cheap, and couldn't pay $150-$200 for a literal extension cable for my camera. So I watched a @WanderlostOverland video on installing a camera relocation kit, and I decided to do the same on the cheap. I bought a 4-wire 25ft cable for wiring trailer connections and some pre-soldered/watertight/shrink wrapped connectors and got busy.
1- Remove the camera from the liftgate and cut the wires 2- On the wires still in the liftgate door I connected/soldered them to the trailer wire (make note of color connections) 3- Run the wire thru the gate, thru the interior, to the bumper and under the jerry can holder on my swing arm (used loom for exterior stuff). 4- Connect/solder the other end to the wires connected to the camera. 5-wrapped the connections by the camera to make watertight and zip tied it to the bottom of the carrier. Of course there was a lot of zip ties involve to keep the wires in place in certain area's, but this was the overview. In the future I may make a metal bracket for the camera out of scrap, but this setup has worked for over a year, so maybe not!

You're going to get some weird suggestions, such as those stating to "extend your wire" without them realizing that 3rd Gen 4Runner's never came with a backup camera from the factory.

With that said, I'll try to remember what camera a buddy gave me as he had got it from Amazon. Worked well with the Alpine HU I had...really any HU that accepts aux vid will be able to utilize any universal camera. The quality though could largely depend on the HU itself.

    Thanks!
