On the fence between a Westcott Design lift and Eibach spring lift

On the fence between a Westcott Design lift and Eibach spring lift on my 4R.

 

You bought a pro, why take out one of the things that makes it a pro? Makes no sense to me when people do that.

 

You're pretty much stuck with a spacer lift unless you un pro bro your pro bro.

 

Wanna mount some 33’s.

 

Me personally if I were to lift the Pro I would go with the suspension setup that is meant to be lifted from the start.

If I ever have to use stock suspension (very unlikely) I would go with the Eibach spring lift but its not available for 2021 and up. I don't think I would go with spacer type lift removing the existing collar. Not sure the reason they use one spacer on top of the strut another one (the bigger collar) to preload the spring in front. Rear is a spacer for spring which still I don't know if stock shock is ready for extra length. Again I'm just dumb on this subject and its just my view as a regular user.

I have to re-think about the lift as if I lift it might not fit through my garage door with the tall roof rack. My other 4Runners didn't have problems are they have regular roof rails. So my lift may not happen any time soon. Also read my concern about the wheel below. (Just sharing my opinion as a Pro owner)

 

I wonder if you are thinking about 285/70R17 which is not recommend to mount on TRD Pro wheels by tire manufacturers due to narrow wheel width. I don't like to go 255/80R17 as they are Load E and I have bad experience with Load E when it comes to comfort in the past.

BUT there are plenty of people running 285/70R17 on TRD Pro wheels.

I'll throw one more option into the mix, the Toytec TRD Pro kit ( ).
There are plenty of forum members here who will bash on the collar kits or spacers but everyone's needs are different. If you have determined that a collar kit works for your needs, then you can't go wrong with any of them. Ultimately, I think the price will have a big part in the decision.
Just a note, Black Friday sales are approaching so it may be wise to wait a few weeks.

‘21 Pro with OEM Pro wheels and Toyo 285’s with the Westcott lift.

As Kmeeg says, the Eibach springs are not (yet?) available for ‘21’s and up so, unless you want to rip the Fox susp outta the Pro and do over, Westcott is about it. BTW, clearance for 285’s is fine with minor front wheel well fender trim and adequate forward caster.

Contrary to some who dislike it, (many of whom are not Pro owners, so have no first hand experience), mine did exactly what I wanted and I’m happy with the Westcott solution. Note, I am not a big time rock crawler. We mostly do forest roads, sand, mud etc.

Yes, I started with wescott, a year later I put the Old man (Bp51) and I think it was ok, but maybe not needed. I am not a hard core off-roader, I'm a weekend warrior at best. So lesson learned, or not. I would much rather save the money for another mod and if you really want to change suspension do it later and go with something where you can really tell a difference. But of course, you will spend a lot! No free lunch here.

Sounds like a great solution for your SR5. Unfortunately, the Eibach springs are not available for the ‘21 and later Pros which is what the OP’s sig shows he owns.

Right. As I said in my post, the issue is with the 21’s and newer Pros. Seems Toyota /Fox changed the front coilover spring seat on the Pros and Eibach hasn’t matched it yet.

 

Well I don’t know how Eibach hasn’t come up with a solution. Then go with Westcott.

 

Like you did on your ‘20, I wanted to use the Eibach springs for my ‘21. I thought it was THE solution. When I checked their website, they showed not available for front springs.

I called them and was told about the glitch with the redesign of the front spring seats and was told they were “working on it” or something to that effect.

I then went with Westcott’s kit which I’m happy with. They do what I want. I understand it might not be the best solution for others here.

No solution yet from Eibach, to my knowledge.

 

It’s a sign to leave it be.

 

Thanks for all the input fella’s, going to wait for retirement in 8 months, figure I’d save $$ on fuel with stock tires due to 40 min commute to work one way. Maybe by then the springs are out, if not WD it is.

Im in the WD camp on my Pro running 285s on stock TRD rims- no problems. Stance is great, ride and nose dive are much improved and it keeps stock geometry. All in all a solid solution. Westcott is great to work with. One note of caution if you plan to continue building out your rig (steel bumper, winch, etc.) you might seriously just consider doing the suspension now as stock coilovers can not handle all that extra weight.

 

I ran 285’s on my Pro rims with no issues. Came from the dealership that way.

 

No plans for steel bumper nor winch.
