New Kings Setup Questions (Rear Springs Recommendations)

    Hello All I am new to the Forum!

    I have a 2020 5th Gen Super White 4R that I purchased a few months ago. Im in the process of buying all the parts for my suspension upgrade.

    I just pulled the trigger on some Kings W/Adjusters and am just waiting on the rears from Shock Surplus. Front Coil Overs already arrived and I recently got a good deal on some SPC UCA's.

    I've been doing my research on aftermarket rear springs and could use some reviews and tips if you guys have suggestions. Springs Im Looking at:

    -Eibach Load Leveling System (stock spring load 0-200lb): 0-1.5'' lift
    -Wheeler's T13 eibach Spring: 1.5" lift (no load)
    -Dobinsons C59-505: 2" lift (no load)

    Some info on my plan for the build:

    -2.5" Lift in the front (Kings have 600lb Springs)
    -1-2" Lift in the Rear (What would be best for Kings out of the box?). Im currently running STOCK weight with no additional constant load. In the future I plan to add some weight like full roof rack, ladder, sliders, and low pro front bumper.

    after watching tons of videos and reading forums, it seems the best height to go with in the rear is 1-2 inches of lift above stock height. Filthy recommends 1" over at most to retain the most use of the rear shock to not limit travel. For those of you with Kings already on your vehicle. What spring did you go with in the rear and for what height? have you noticed any limitations or decreased performance going higher than 1" of lift in the rear?

    Thanks for your input! If you can include pictures of your lift that would be awesome but not necessary.

    My Dobinsons springs have held up pretty well so far with no sagging. I’ve got about 23,000 miles on them. Mine came out a smidge higher than their height ratings

    Did you purchase the same dobinsons I listed? If not what did you go with?

    Off the top of my head I dont recall the model number. But it was the standard weight/rate spring listed as 3 in lift that settles to 2.5in once you add 150 extra lbs. I have a lo pro bumper w winch, so I was aiming for 2.5. It took a while to settle down to 2.5in, maybe 10k miles.

    The rear was the standard weight spring that gives 1.5in lift. It was also bit higher than that once installed. Also took a while to settle down to 1.5in (closer to two after install)

    this is what it looks like loaded up with camping gear, 5gal of water in the back, a cooler with 15lbs of ice, and recovery tools etc. I wish the front end was a little lower, mostly because I think a little more down travel is ideal. However, I dont have armor yet. It might drop a bit once I do, so Im hesitant to drop the height using the adjustable collars.

    I run Dobinsons c59-329

    I have about 2.5” of lift in the rear even with a lot of constant weight. I also have Filthys custom length rear shocks

    I would suggest to get the springs to support your current weight demands then upgrade once you add more weight. If you plan to off road, take into account the weight of your gear you plan to bring with you (maybe c59-505). You can take measurements from center of hub to bottom of fender to help track how much you start to sag. The rear springs are easy enough to swap out and relatively inexpensive if you have a shop do it.

    PS: don’t forget to upgrade bump stops or add bump stop spacer

    Thank you! I’ve reached out to them and since I do not have custom rear length shocks, they advised only a 1-1.5” lift over stock. I was hoping to get some customer reviews or suggestions! But thank you for your input! I appreciate it.

    also what is the main purpose of replacing the bump stops if I don’t have the custom length rear shocks?

    Sounds like you’re on the right track, not that I’m an expert by any means. But the one thing that caught my eye was your awareness to not lift the back to far. I had a 3/2 lift and the 2” lift in the back caused the stock shocks to top out every time I drove over an obstacle. Just FYI, the stock rear shocks and many aftermarket shocks only extend 23.5”. So try and plan the least amount of lift in the back and you should be good. Unless you are able to go with an extended travel shock.

    I have Kings with adjusters all the way around and run the 2” Icon rear springs in the back. They’re made by Eibach. Runs and feels great.

    I really wish we have more specs on shocks and springs. Wish we have a separate thread to collect specs on each lift.
    I have a feeling all these springs are at same length but get stiffer with how lift we want. Any idea on that? Is that correct or wrong? Are they at same length or there are longer springs than stock?

    I have the icon 52700. They give 2” of lift and are rated for 200lbs of constant weight, but ride just fine with no additional weight.

    Aftermarket shocks tend to have a bit more travel than stock. Bump stops are suppose to limit up travel, not the internals of your shock...

    Dobinson and OME provide spring rate, coil thickness, and coil height...I cant speak on the other brands but thats what I used to determine what springs I needed for my setup.

    I believe they are supposed to be longer. Longer, with a higher spring rate is also possible.
