The light flashes in the side rear view mirrors if the vehicle detects another one in the lane which I am trying to enter, but there is no auditable warning. Is there a setting in the setup menu to add this safety feature?

Guessing you mean "Blind spot monitor". My '22 TRD Off Road does not have an audible warning for that just the mirror light. Guess since you're supposed to do a shoulder check it's not needed. LDA though does and I found it so annoying I shut it off completely.

So a flashing light on a mirror that you are supposed to be using in the first place is not good enough?

If there was audible warning about every car passing by - I think it would drive everybody insane. The light on the mirror has no idea when you are about to change lane, so it flashes at every passing car. The normal logic is that if a driver is going to change lane he/she would at least look at the side mirror : )

Not sure about every care manufacturer, but Mazda has a light whenever your blind spot is occupied and then an audible warning when you put your blinker on and there’s someone still there. Don’t see why Toyota couldn’t have done that

Honda has a solid light on the pillar, that flashes fast if signal towards a object in the danger zone. A audible tone would drive me nuts.

The audible tone on other vehicles sounds only when you have your turn signal on and the vehicle senses an approaching vehicle. The TRD Sport's BSM system shows a steady light if a vehicle is approaching and blinks if you have your turn signal on under the same conditions. This would be added safety that could be turned off if it is not wanted.

I'm not against any tech which can be turned off : ) Normally I wait until fast approaching vehicle or vehicle in blind spot passed me before I show turn signal and start changing lanes. Don't want to make other drivers nervous : )

On the other note I think we have some sort of audible signal of something, I've heard it from time to time mostly when driving on gravel roads, but couldn't figure what it was for. Never saw any light on dashboard, next time I try to check mirrors when hear that beep again maybe light is there.

Buy a Mazda. Its the same as "Corvette does 0-60 in 3.1 seconds. Don’t see why Toyota couldn’t have done that"

Its exactly the same. Corvettes are designed to go fast, quick and look good doing it. 4Runners are capable machines for offroading. I am not a fan of nanny tech at all. Buy an offroad vehicle and expect it to behave like a road vehicle. Its the same.

Haha. So far off base. One is adding an audible warning to an existing feature. One is comparing apples and oranges.

Please. They are both features offered by differing car companies.
